50th Anniversary Plaque

My wife's step sister and husband are celebrating their 50th anniversary.  I thought this would make a great gift.  The pattern is by Sue Mey and purchased from her website.  I used 1/4" Cherry plywood and backed it with 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood staind red with Samen stain.  It is approximately 9" in diameter.  The blades were FD New Spiral #3/0 and UR #1.  The finish is one coat of sanding sealer and one coat of spray Shellac.  Using the water based Samen stain eliminated the gluing problem.  Comments welcome.

Denny, Does the water base stain raise the grain? Looks good. I'm sure they will love it. dave

Yes, Dave, but with a light sanding with the Mac Mop, nice and smooth.

Sorry for all the questions...........Where do you purchase it?  I watched a utube on it and they were recommending to apply it with a foam brush. Could you apply it with a regular brush to get down into fret work? Thanks, dave

Good questions, Dave.  When the project was complete, I immersed it in a sanding sealer, 50% Shellac and 50% Denatured Alcohol.  After dried, buffed lightly with a Mac Mop, then sprayed with Shellac.  If your question is where did I purchase the Mac Mop, Klingspors.

Sorry Denny, I wasn't very clear. I was talking about the stain. dave
