Four name and address signs this week.

Three stained and one painted.two with eagles. a german shepard and bichon friese dogs.

all approximately 18 inche by 5.5 inches...Slightly raised the letters.Went about 5 degrees

because of the number of letters in sign.

The letter s in prices looks slanted but it is not...must be the way I took picture.

This is why I love this site I have got some odd bits I have acquired that are around this width I was wondering what to do with then and this thread pops up and answers my question I will be sanding them down ready, Thanks Gordie I knew you would have a good idea for my bits  ;) They came out great by the way I am gonna give that a go for sure and on wood for a change might even make myself one for my front door Thanks for sharing  :)  :D Frank

Nice originality and I like the contrast you used here. From what you said, I assume the letters are part of the main board, at an angle so the are standing out from the rest of the sing, and the painted white. Is this correct?

Thanks Dick yes I cut them on a five degree angle counterclockwise.

Gordie, I love the way those came out. I couldn't tell if you painted those letters on or put a white backer on them. So your telling me that you cut those letters out at a 5 degree angle so they are raised up a little.

Thanks Ralph.Yes they are cut at five degrees, table titled to the left.

To get them to raise you have to cut COUNTERCLOCKWISE. For a recess you cut clockwise.

For example in the name price, the circle parts of the letters P and R I cut the circles clockwise first. Then the letter counterclockwise.

You can play with the angle to get the raise you want.I used 5 degrees this time because of

the number of letters in name. Most times I use 7 degrees. It is great fun because you can paint

the letters separately. One more thing is when I use stain on the body,I finish just the body

with spar varnish. If you put spar on the white letters it will turn them yellow.

Give it a try and you will see how easy it is and I am sure you will love doing them.
