Dustyknees
Hi all..Newbie to the site here..I know that common sense dictates thanking the author for a pattern you download and cut,but how about placing things for sale that I have done? Any legal aspects I should watch? Get permission?..Any advice on this would be much appreciated..Thanks..Jonathan
Messman
This can be a bit tricky to answer. One key is to look at the pattern it's self. Some times designers will put "for personal use only" on the pattern. Most of the designers who do this are trying to say that you may use their pattern and gift the finished product but you may not sell the finished cutting. The best thing to do if you have any questions is to ask the designer directly. Some designers will place additional limits on their patterns such as you may use their pattern 100 times etc. Something alot of folks don't think about are patterns from magazines. here you will need to read the fine print often found in the first few pages concerning the use of the patterns located in the magazine. NiTay614
Messman is right, but sometime the limitations themselves are not specific. I have purchased pattern package which specify how many of the product I can make and sell per year, but is the per each item or as a total. I have contacted the author to gain clarification on the stipulations for my own protection. "When in doubt ask questions!"
Huntter2022
Do not sell anything like NFL , Walt Disney , Nascar , NBA and etc. stuff like this will get you in trouble . I know you will probably see people selling it but I have also seen people get in trouble selling Walt Disney lawn ornaments. They are out there all the time another one is Harley Davidson they offer a reward if you turn someone in selling there logo or copyrighted material . Yes you can get a licences to sell it but from what I heard it is expensive to get

Yes you can get a licences to sell it but from what I heard it is expensive to get This is precisely why I will NEVER buy ANYTHING that is "NFL, Walt Disney , Nascar , NBA, Harley Davidson" related. Anytime I hear of other organizations doing the same I, then, adjust my buying appropriately. Their crass materialism has, definitely, taken a toll on the American economy!
