Trka2002
I just tried Olson crown tooth blades for the first time. I didn't have a problem with cutting but they started ripping the pattern off the wood. Has anyone else had this problem? The process I use for attaching my pattern is using blue painters tape, applying spray adhesive, then clear packing tape. I don't think it's with the way I attach my patterns. Iguanadon
I've used the crown tooth blades but haven't had that issue. They do cut slower, so it's possible that you're going a tad too fast and it's grabbing the tape. Just a thought.
Rolf
Lose the clear packing tape. The blue tape under the pattern is enough. I find that the clear packing tape gets sawdust under it and obscures the line. Just my opinion. I use mostly Olson blades but also not crazy about the crown tooth. ike
If you glue the pattern directly to the wood you will have thay problem or at least I did. The onlty advantage I can see with them is when the blade get's dull you can turn it around and use the other end but Ididn't care too much for them anyway and don't use them any more. rjweb
I used them just last week, but didn't care for them, I also found that the blade was pulling off the pattern, I thought i must not have glue it properly, thx RJ

I agree 100% about losing the clear tape. As for me the clear tape causes more trouble than good. Maybe you're not using enough glue, or not letting it set ujp long enough. Good luck Edited April 21, 2017 by Grumpy Old Bear
Lucky2
All you have to do to solve this issue, is to use more glue on the pattern back. Doing this gives the glue a better grip, and it shouldn't make any difference in removing the pattern from the wood, especially, if you use the blue tape on the wood before you apply the pattern. I wouldn't do this if I wasn't using the blue tape, it would be just to difficult to remove the leftover paper from the piece. Len.
NC Scroller
I do not use Crown tooth blades. Tried them and did not like them as much as reverse tooth blades. Anyway I agree with other that you doing need booth painters tape and clear packing tape. When I do intarsia I put the clear packing tape directly on the and then glue the pattern to the tape. This allows me to see the wood so I orient the pattern piece better to the grain and other features in the wood.
