amazingkevin Posted April 28, 2017 Report Posted April 28, 2017 Done in 3/4 plywood ,#7 scroll reverse donated blades from hotshot ,not many left of his but others have donated different blades to me too.thank you friends.the boxes my Thailand friend made for his temple with monks in it.he had me scroll the bottom pieces (40) in 3/4 teak on his ryobe band saw.it would not do it so i had to take all to my shop and cut on the dewalt .piece of cake.now he texts me that he has an order for 40 to 50 more boxes .so that's 40 x4 pieces for me to scroll in mahogany this time or 50 x 4 pieces.Because it was for his temple i don't get payed .you would have thought he would have told me that before hand .Oh well water over the dam.I do have alot of fancy scrolled cut out pieces .i guess i could make key chains with them, lol well 4 picture are in my picture file but they will not load??? lawson56 and jollyred 2 Quote

Gordster Posted April 28, 2017 Report Posted April 28, 2017 They look great Kevin....no pay sucks though. You will find a use for them.. I have bunches of names I have made for people that didn't come back for them..some of them are odd names, but I put them on display and sure enough, someone else with that name will come by. Quote
ike Posted April 28, 2017 Report Posted April 28, 2017 That's one reasonnot to take special orders. When I do ( very seldom do) I get a % of the price before I start, at least enough to buy the materials. But I just don't like special orders. IKE Quote

The only woodworking I take are special orders. After design approval (I'm out on a limb with those) I get 1/2 up front and the balance on delivery. I've never been hurt with this, other than my poor estimating skills. Dave Monk 1 Quote

This looks like an ideal project to stack cut on a band saw. You can probably even make a template to follow. Quote

Churches, temples, synagogues all have members who contribute to the organization. If they want the place painted or whatever, and no member volunteers to provide the service, either they should pay or it doesn't happen. And this person is a friend? And they want 40 or 50 more? Are you sure they're not selling them on Ebay? Sorry Kevin, but I'm a cynic. Quote
Scrappile Posted April 28, 2017 Report Posted April 28, 2017 I guess I do not understand, did you make the whole box or just the bottom piece for each box? Nice boxes, but Buddha Monks survive off of gifts and money from their followers. Surely they can get some of their flock to donate some to you. Quote
