hotshot
I bought my 14" for about that also, but it was single speed, didn't have a quick tensioner and such. You should be able to get any part you need for that saw from "Advanced", so parts should not be a problem. You can not upgrade the arms for the upfront quick tensioner, but there is a upgrade to put a quick tension mechanism on the back. I will say, there is a big usability difference between the low end 14" Hegner, and my 22", variable speed multi max with quick tensioner up front. If you could afford it, I would at least look at the 22in, see if it has the features I just mentioned. If you are within driving distance of Manchester TN, I will give you my 14" Hegner for free. ---Randy Edited May 17, 2017 by hotshot cnkcustoms02
cnkcustoms02
It's the one without all that but with two little ones running around affording a good quality saw is out of the question as the last few larger hegners on Craigslist around here have been selling for darn near a grand. I have an old AMT 23" thought this one might be kinda cool to have as a little more portable model for maybe craft show demo's too. cnkcustoms02
Not only that but it's a decent secondary saw for fifty bones lol
tuner
50 bucks you can't go wrong, if it running today it will keep running . It seems these old saws wear out but don't just break that offten

That would be pretty cheap and the best dollar for dollar upgrade for that saw. For a VS Hegner, you did very very good. Hope it works for you. cnkcustoms02
its got the one with the knob the lower one is missing I was thinking of going that route was also thinking of looking for that tensioner upgrade
CharleyL
If restoring it to full operation fails, you can find the part values of the existing parts as new replacements and then sell the pieces for about half the price of the new replacement part price. I'm certain that you will sell enough of it to recover your investment, but it might take a while. Charley.
Scrappile
If you look at it, make sure the VS works. That I think may be hard to replace, not sure. Course make sure it runs. The clamp Hotshot mentioned is this one I think: https://www.advmachinery.com/products/hegner-quickclamp I would not own a Hegner without that clamp. It makes it so much more user friendly. On the bottom clamp there are two sizes, one for #5 and smaller blades, and one for #7 and larger. Unfortunately they do not come marked, so I do not know which one I have on mine anymore, but it works fine. They should stamp them so a person would know. cnkcustoms02
Everything works very good on it thus far ordered that clamp and a couple other things threw a pin end blade in it tensioned it up and cuts like a dream now when the clamp comes I'll be in business as far as ease of. Made change anything is better than my AMT
Scrappile
Great to read. Hegners are work horses. It will last you as long as you scroll. I love mine. Took a while to get use to, now I will never part with it in my lifetime. Edited May 26, 2017 by Scrappile Jim Finn
cnkcustoms02
I love it already I'm glad to have two saws now I can use my AMT for large stuff as it is 23" and this will be great for everything else lol I'm actually trying to figure out a tension release system for both of them for easier blade changes
