dgman
Before the lights went out, Paul, AKA scrappile posted his Dragon. I replied that I had cut one about eight years ago. He asked if I had pictures. I did not. It has been on display at the Woodcraft store where I teach. Unfortunately, it had sat on an uncovered top shelf all this time. It had about a 1/2" of dust on it, so I decided to bring it home and clean it up. I first blew it off with compressed air, then soaked it in mineral spirits. Then when dry, I aplied a a coat of spray can lacquer. I had to replace the clock as the tabs that hold it in the hole were broken, and the pendulum needed polishing. The pendulum is not per plan, but I decided it would make a nice touch. It is a seperate unit that fits in the same 1 3/8" hole as the clock insert. the pattern is by Dirk Boelman. It is cut from 1/2" Red Oak and the base is Mahogany. Edited May 21, 2017 by dgman Lucky2, lawson56, bobscroll and 3 others

Scrappile
That is really nice, Dan. I like the pendulum with the clock. I also really like how you did the base. I thought I had come up with something new with the glass ball but then on Pinterest other day I saw three versions of it done by a guy. One had the clock like the plans call for. One had the dragon holding a ball like I did (his was even amber like mine) and one was holding an amber ball and a clock was inserted in the first curl of the tail. He was there before me... I really need to finish mine. Edited May 21, 2017 by Scrappile dgman

wombatie
It seems a shame to have left it there gathering dust, it is such a beautiful piece. I love the pendulum idea, rather unique. Marg dgman
