Popular Post Denny Knappen Posted May 30, 2017 Popular Post Report Posted May 30, 2017 Last week we watched an episode of 'Have Gun - Will Travel' in which Quanah Parker was a character. I knew he wasn't fictional, so I looked him up. I just had to do this portrait. The pattern is by Gary Browning and found in his book, "Wild West Scroll Saw Portraits". I enlarged the pattern by 65% to fit an 11" x 14" frame. I used 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood and backed with a black mat board. In framing, I used Acrylite, a framing quality plastic. The blades used were FD New Spiral #1 and there are two coats of spray Shellac. Comments welcome. New Guy, vykus, Fish and 7 others 10 Quote

rdatelle Posted May 30, 2017 Report Posted May 30, 2017 Nice cutting there Denny. Looks like a few hairy little cuts there. Quote
Denny Knappen Posted May 30, 2017 Author Report Posted May 30, 2017 Thanks Ralph. There are three large cut out areas. When cut, I taped them back in place for stability. Quote
GPscroller Posted May 30, 2017 Report Posted May 30, 2017 Very nicely done Denny. I have one wife and NO hair, imagine eight Jeff Quote

wombatie Posted May 31, 2017 Report Posted May 31, 2017 You did a great job on Quanah. I cut him years ago, yes you do have to tape a few bits back in to give it stability, there are a couple of hairy bit that can be a bit worrying. Great work. Marg Quote
Denny Knappen Posted May 31, 2017 Author Report Posted May 31, 2017 Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I found out that Charles Dearing has a pattern also, but I am sure it is much more complicated. Quote
penquin Posted May 31, 2017 Report Posted May 31, 2017 Looks great, like it. Nicely cut and framed. jim penquin Quote
heppnerguy Posted June 1, 2017 Report Posted June 1, 2017 Nice cutting. It is a great example of a wooden portrait. Native Americans are so colorful. Every time I look at one of these old Indian portraits, I feel sad that their culture was stripped from them Dick heppnerguy Quote
