JOE_M
For less than 8 bucks plus shipping you can buy a 3-jaw chuck for your dremel. That solves the "find the right collet" problem. As for the "never having the right size bit in the rotary tool" problem, a mini drill will just turn that into a "never having the right size bit in the mini drill" problem. jollyred, hotshot and Lucky2

Yep, this is my solution and it works great. Prior to this, I used the chuck from Flying Dutchman, and that solution frustrated me to no end. hotshot
If you are in a hurry . . . I bought my Dremel chuck from HomeDepot. Probably cost a few more bucks and tax, but no shipping. I just checked, and the Lowes in Fort Smith, AR has them in stock on Aisle 63 , Bay 3. (I love the internet) You are looking for Dremel part 4486 Edited June 19, 2017 by hotshot WayneMahler and TheWoodArtist

Cut it off and used the remainder and it works great. For the small amount they ask, I think well worth the price.
TheWoodArtist
I just checked home depot don't have it but Lowes does and being that it is on the aisle and bay you mentioned I am thinking you meant Lowes which is awesome considering I have a pro account there. Thanks for the info on it. I have the plunge router and press station and 4 dremels use the press and have the shaft and use it more than anything for drilling and fine sanding along with engraving and carving so this will work great on one of them that isn't attached to anything else unless it will attach to the shaft but don't know if it will and if it does wonder if it will cause it to be end heavy. Anyways, thanks again I will figure it out and use it a lot I'm sure. Edited June 19, 2017 by TheWoodArtist
Sycamore67
The start of this thread tells about a 24 volt mini drill (2.4 ?). How about a link to it or brand name and where it is sold? Thanks
redwine
The chuck that Dremel has is available at Lowe's and at our Walmart is a great addition to your drilling of small entry holes. I have had the 3 jaws seize up once in awhile but just keep them clean and squirt a little WD40 and wipe off the excess and that usually solves the problem. Don't know if that chuck is still available from Mike's Workshop but forget about obtaining one. Once you find the right place for the drill bit you will be using it works fine, but than you change to another bit and you go through the process again aligning the jaws for a wobble free turn. I finally "chucked" mine and just use the Dremel with the router stand for the really small bits. Erv
tuner
Mini or micro drills can be found with a Google search and on ebay
Sycamore67
I had already found them with a search but based on the post I thought you had a particular model/brand that you could share.
