The widths of the wood used are 3/4" 1/2" 1/4" 1/8" 3/8" 3/16" I plan to paint the wood with acrylic and then spray it with clear polyurethane. It's easy work with on the saw, sands easy, medium density wood, & takes paint better than hardwood. And clear of knots, where pine isn't. And it's fairly cheap, unless ya live here in NW Kansas. bandaideman Posted June 24, 2017 Report Share Posted June 24, 2017 I was looking for oak in larger size 12 inch wide but short. Needed to buy 8-12 foot. Little high for what I was doing. and looked at poplar then found pine made in New Zealand. Not sure what it means but was right size and price at Menards so I got a smallest length used it as a backer and stained with golden oak after sanding sealer applied and sanded.
