Another Saturday at the local farmers market and the wind was out of control.  Ended up having to take the cover off my tent because I was worried about it destroying the frame/tent and taking out my tables with it.  Half the vendors did the same thing or didn't put their tent up at all.  I couldn't easily (or safely) take down the tent since I'd already fully setup.  And boy oh boy it was hot without having the shade to sit under... So glad it's only 5 hours long.

I'm looking at more durable tents.  Someone recommended some really nice, top of the line ones that cost $900 and while I don't mind paying for quality items, they're much more difficult to setup and for simple 5 hour events, it just isn't feasible.  So I may get a middle of the road variety tent that can handle wind better than the one I have now.

Wth! Are you set up in a cemetary?

I didn't setup on the actual grave.

 Around the lake they have the town "Walk of Fame", markers with information about famous or hard working folks over the decades.

We had all that wind yesterday here in East TN - then got a lot of rain last night and this morning.  Just hot this afternoon though!  Cooling off for the week.  Not bad for late June! Glad you didn't get blown away.  How were your sales?

HI All,

Sales the past 2 weeks were identical at 24 pieces each day.  Not bad, not great, but no complaints at all.  Just now getting into the meat of the tourist season so we'll see if things pick up a little.  Still cutting like crazy preparing for my big event at the end of August.

And waiting for my new Hawk saw to ship... Looking very forward to that.

Browsing tents on Amazon right now... Narrowed down to 3 so far, but still browsing.

Wind is definitely a pain at outdoor shows.

Here at the coast you never know when the winds will pick up.  I use 5 gallon buckets that I fill with water, so they're about 35-40lbs each, at each corner.  It's been windy before, but yesterday was easily 30-35mph gusts and I wasn't worried about the entire structure lifting up and flying away, but I began worrying about the structural frame twisting or buckling and then just completely falling apart and down on my display tables so that's why I removed the cover.

If I had tried to take the tent down during the gusty winds I was worried that would be when it would lift up and take off on me crashing into other vendors.  A sturdier, higher quality tent will ease my mind and I won't worry about windy conditions again.
