The cost to run a web site of that size isn't cheap.. I am quite surprised they haven't done this much sooner honestly.. While it kind of stinks to have to pay for everything.. I kind of understand too...

I also do not trust photo hosting sites.. and I also back up my computer to an external drive.. and after I had a external drive crash that had thousands of patterns pictures etc on it.. I now also back up to CD/DVD disc and or zip / flash drives.. so I now keep several copies now..

I guess there is no more linking photos from my photo bucket account to this or any other site unless you pay some rediculous fee. From what was free for so long has now become another money grabber. What a shame. Any of the threads where i had done this in the past are now now gone.

John I use a hosting site called "IMUR". They have no fees and ads and is easy to use. I left Photo Bucket a long time ago. I got so tired of them.

The question people should ask is whether any photo hosting site is good for long term photo storage.  They are all under the same pressures to make money one way or another.  They all can change their teams of service any time they want to.

I believe it is best to always have a backup.

Photos are an interesting thing for archiving or keeping long term. I have photos that are over 100 years old.  Back then, people took very few photos. I have many photos that my dad took and are still in good shape.

The photos you took on your camera or digital phone yesterday...how will someone see them in 75 years.  We have problems just keeping photos from a year ago.  Will technology in even 20 years be able to read your current digital photos.

Even if the technology is available, how many pictures to be stored.  Many people shoot zillions and post them on websites everywhere.  Do you keep all your pictures, do you sort them, and how can you find them.  How will you pass down pictures to your kids and Grandkids.

The entire digital picture storage and archive issues are huge.

What would be the easiest way to transfer my photos from PhotoBucket to that site

John I can't even get logged in. There are ads on top of ads. If I remember right I just right clicked on the picture I wanted then I went to IMUR and clicked "Add Images" then paste it to where it says to. On IMUR you need to resize your pictures if you want to post them to a forum. I use 640X480. That way they will not be to small or to large. I only have a few pictures on Photo Bucket so I guess I lost them. Oh well!!!
