jpdoll7771
I have worked with wood almost all of my life and was away from it for a few years while I drove truck to support the family. I am now on medical disability due to heart and out of control diabetes. I decided to get back into woodworking for something to do and possibly make a little money. Lets face it SS disability is not much when you have a family of 7. It is good to have fellow woodworkers for hints and tips and to show off things we have created. Looking forward to making new friends.
Dan
Welcome to the village John. Sorry to hear about your health problems, but I find woodworking great therapy for whatever ails you. What kind of woodworking did you do in the past? Dan
jpdoll7771
Hi Dan, I have done several types of wood working in the past . I have done 2 antique reproductions of a china cabinet and buffet that were of my grand parents that lived in Germany. I have built custom kitchen cabinets and also done some construction work from framing to finish. I guess you could say I have been well rounded in carpentry. I am not much for wood carving but I think I may really enjoy working with a scroll saw and doing scroll and fret work. I used to have a Shopsmith Mark V back in the 80's but was stolen while I was away driving truck. Now that I am home and not driving anymore (sniff sniff). I think the intricate patterns will keep me busy without over exherting myself.

Travis
Hi John. Welcome to the Village. We're glad you found us. We have enough patterns in the Pattern Library to keep you in sawdust for quite some time. If you're looking to sell some of your work, you should look into setting up an etsy.com account. It's like a big craftshow, but all online. I know several folks who have done quite well with it. Anyway, welcome aboard. Jump in and have some fun! cdrover
Hi John welcome aboard, sorry to hear about your health. My wife is diabetic, has been since she was 3 years old. That is 53 years now. She is using the insulin pump and is doing excellent, but it is a uphill battle all the way. Don't dispair, keep up the fight. Good luck with the scroll saw, I hope it keeps you busy.
