Iguanadon
Up until now the only kids puzzles I've offered have been dinosaurs. I offered them painted and did well with them and about 2 months ago I started offering them unpainted also for less money and ready for painting by the little ones, and they've done VERY well. Well enough that I'm going to stop offering them painted. Painting them is a pain. Since I'll have some more table space I thought about expanding to more species of dinos but I've had a couple of folks mention that their kids aren't into dinosaurs, so I decided to broaden the selection and made these 7 new ones. I'll see how they do and I figure a couple of them won't sell as well and I can simply take them out of circulation. Picture of my current setup and picture of the 7 new ones. Which ones do you think will be the most popular? Name your top 2. I'm taking 2 of each to the farmers market this Saturday and I'll see how they do. Iguanadon
My daughter is leaving for a 2 week vacation tomorrow and when she gets back I'll have her paint one of each. She paints them so that each piece is a different color. They look psychedelic and really cool. I had her do one of the dino's and someone ended up buying it. Phantom Scroller
Iggy questions for you, do you paint them all over or just the tops brush or spray and you've probably answered this one before, how thick are they 1/2",3/4" or 1" ? Roly Hi Roly, When I paint them, it's all over. I use watered down food coloring and dip each piece in and set it aside to dry. I used to wipe off the excess, but stopped doing that and it speeds up the process quite a bit. The kids puzzles are all made out of stock pine from Home Depot, 3/4" thick. wombatie
I love the new ones. I also think the bunny and the butterfly will be the most popular, but I hope the squirrel will get a look in also. Love the multi colored Dino, makes him pop. Roly Roly, one thing I forgot to mention, I use distilled water since I make up a batch and it sits for a little while. Tinker around with how much food coloring you add to the water until you get the darkness/tint you like.
Phantom Scroller
Thanks Iggy for the tips. I'll have a go and see what happens as soon as I get some food colouring. Roly

Roly Another tip... if you decide you like using food coloring, you can buy it in 16oz bottles from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GURKRK0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Phantom Scroller
Iguanadon
Week 9 of my Farmers Market and the first time displaying the new kids puzzles (non-dinosaurs). I had almost no kid puzzle interest today, it's funny how each week is hit or miss with things. I have the painted dinos on sale "Buy One Get One Free" to get rid of them and sold 2 (and 2 freebies). Of the new items, only sold one, a bunny within the bunny. I need to dedicate a week soon to making 10 of each kids puzzle in preparation for the big event that is now just 1 month away. Total sales yesterday was 24... seems to be my lucky number, it's the 4th time I've sold that number out of 9 weeks. spirithorse
Good work! I think the butterfly and the elephant will be the best sellers over the long term. Good luck and God Bless! Spirithorse
