PORTER-CABLE 1.6-Amp Variable Speed Scroll Saw

I own the Porter Cable and I really enjoy it. This is the first scroll saw I have owned. I have had this since December of 2015

To me it is not to loud, the vibration can be annoying depending on the speed. Changing the blades could be easier but like I said this is my first scroll saw so I have nothing to compare to, I do own other Porter Cable tools and am happy with them which helped in my choice plus I didn't want to lay out $600 to $1400 for a first time saw. Now that I have come to enjoy scroll saw work I am looking at upgrading not sure to what yet. You might want to check out the saw reviews here on SSV.

I own 1,I have had it for about a year.The 1st this I did was change the top blade clamp screw over to the right side. More easier for me.I have also found that depending on how much you use it.the 2 special screws.ck owners manual.has to be adjusted I have only had to do this once.Other than that.me and my saw have done just Great.:D

I started with the porter cable too, still have it, though rarely used now.  My only complaint is the plastic puck around the blade, it is slightly recessed from being flush with the work surface.  When cutting fretwork that often caused issues until I made a new insert.  Maybe they fixed that issue in the newer saws

My saw broke down last fall and I bought a Porter cable while y dewalt was being repaired. I had it  for about 6 hours and took it back to lowes. The blade was hard to change and the blade insert was too recessed . It was not a good saw for making fretwork or puzzles It was a saw that shoul have been in the $100 class at tops.I do not recomend it.

I had the Hitachi for several years (it is the granddaddy of the P-C) and it worked very well until it gave up the ghost. I looked at the P-C, but when I saw the very low insert (probably in excess of 2mm)--I had to pass. Fathers Day and anniversary were coming up, so my dear wife said just order the DeWalt and call it even.  Smart woman.
