Oldmansbike
Just joined here. I'm from Iowa and have been using a scrollsaw for the past 20 years. I have a 26 inch RBI Hawk that I bought in 1996 new. Never had any trouble with it and have used it a lot. The pictures are some of the signs I have been making the last few years. stoney
Welcome Dale! I'm a little late getting here. Your signs are very nicely done. The painting is superb. What kind of material are they made from? I am curious about your user name Oldmansbike. Would you care to share its significance? Oldmansbike
They are made from 1/2 inch hobby plywood from Menards. That's the only place I can find it. My wife and I have ridden Harley's for the last 16 years. 2 years ago we bought a Harley trike (bad knees) hence the name oldmansbike. stoney and OCtoolguy

OCtoolguy
Hi there @oldmansbike, it seems we have crossed paths on another board and didn't realize we were also friends here. Your work is phenomenal. I envy your painting ability. I can cut most anything but from there on, it eludes me as to what to do with it. Paint, stain, what finish? You have done a masterful job of sign-making. I hope we can develop more than just a casual relationship. Both here and on FB. See ya! jerry1939
Hi Neighbor. May I ask where in Iowa you live? Wife and I own a condo in North liberty (between Iowa City & Cedar Rapids). Retired from the hobby & gave the saw to a son in Illinois last year. Oldmansbike
Jerry I live south of Burlington Iowa not too far from you. Ray my painting isn't that good. I just cut out the individual parts, sand them and then hit them with a spray can of the color I want. Then just glue it all together on a backing board.
