cjswoodcrafts
I am sure that some of the scrollers here know this trick, but since i got rid of Ryobi and got a craftsman, the instruction book suggested that you put paste wax on the cutting table. Well i was like wtc is paste wax, and i found it a walmart, turtle wax bout 3 bucks I only put 1 coat on and the wood slides around alot better, and so much smoother turning the wood. Well for the ones that didnt know this,, there ya go. there are other brands, but i just got the cheapest. Hope I helped atleast a couple folks Jim
Vector01
Paste wax helps a lot. It's also great for preventing the table from rusting. I had spilled some water on my table after a cut and the next day had some rust spots. I apply the wax before cutting and before I put it away. I just don't polish it off when I put the saw away. Dan
I also wax my table as needed. Something else that seems to help is to sand the table. I have a Delta P-20 and I thought the top was smooth. After some sawdust accumulates on the table, I realized that the dust particles were so small that they filled in some small grooves in the table. That made the wood slide less effectively. After sanding and waxing, I was amazed at the difference it made. Dan
Travis
I use a furniture wax on my scroll saw bed. I think its a paste wax too from Johnson (I think). Usually what I do is spray down the bed with WD-40. This cleans off the old wax, removes the old wax, and any other gunk (like tape/glue residue). Then I put on the wax and then buff it off with a paper towel. Make sure that whatever wax you're using, it doesn't have silicon. I guess it will discolor the wood.
