cutting a few in Arizona

I know that I have not been on very often in the past month or so but with the move , buying  all new furniture and setting up my shop, I have been pretty busy. However I did manage to get a few requests and decided it was about time to show you all that  I am not permanently  asleep here in the land of the sun. So here are some of the things that I remembered to take photos of before I shipped them. The light was poor in the room I took them in so they are a little fuzzy as a result. The remembrance plaque i make and give to anyone that has lost a loved one that I know. I have made a countless number of these, The second one is a Steve Good pattern that I had orders for three of these. the Arizona State plaque (designed by Sam Custodio) I have made three of these, the potters plaque is another of Sam's patterns I made this for a potter friend of mine as a surprise gift, and the wedding cross I mailed to an exchange student that lived with us 5 years ago and it getting married in three weeks. She lives in Slovakia.  So you see, though I have not been real busy, I have not been out of the shop completely

Great work Dick, have you build you workshop or did you already have one there? Roly

Roly,

I have a double garage in our new home that is air conditioned and  was perfect for me to put my shop in. It is very warm here in Southern Arizona and to have a built in A/C was a blessing. There are a lot of built in storage in it also. The lighting is quite well too. So what I did was, I separated my  4 piece work bench that I had in my second shop in Oregon and  put it together to form an 8 foot X 10 foot table. it has two areas where there is a three foot wide open space in the middle and center on both sides where I can sit and do my work at the table. I also have another work bench against the  wall with seating area. There are drawers and area under each where  I have covered storage for whatever I decide to place there. Against both main walls of the garage has enclosed shelving from one end to the other.  I  have to admit that  I  still have not gotten everything in the places where I wish them to be, yet. We also have another  one car garage that is totally separate from my shop where we park our car. Later on, I will take photos of it so you can see what I have. I have a lot of room to work in and I could still park a vehicle in the open part of my shop  when someone comes to visit us if I wish.

Nice work Dick. I have been wondering about you because you have been silent. Glad to hear you are settled.

Thank you, Dave.  There is a lot of work involved with a long move like this one. We sold almost all of our furniture and had to purchase all new items here. That takes some time but we have things in good order here now. Our house is very nice and we have a lake that is only 4 feet off our back patio and has a lot of large fish and turtles in it.  My wife and I sit on the patio and feed the fish and turtles every morning as we drink our coffee. I hope to find a lot more time in The Village pretty soon. We are leaving on Thursday for most of the month to go back for a three week visit with family in Heppner and to watch the eclipse. Then we will be heading back home to Arizona. That will put some down time for me and my computer time too.

Good to see you back in business.  These are some mighty fine work.

Thanks Paul.  We should be able to get together for an afternoon in your area while we are in Heppner. Not  sure if Sharon will be traveling with me or not but I will be there. I will give you a call a couple of days before and let you know

So good to hear an update from you Dick and to see that you have found some time in front of your saw since your move.  Beautiful work all around.  Hope it cools off for you soon.  Glad to hear you have such a nice shop space with AC to work in.  Enjoy your family trip.
