Denny Knappen Posted August 1, 2017 Report Posted August 1, 2017 Each year I donate a project to the local hospital's golf tournament. I saw this on Steve Good's site and said this is the one. I don't like making mini clocks because of the batteries. This one is 2 3/4" and uses AAA batteries. The upright is 3/4" Hard Maple and the base is 1/2" Poplar. I used FD UR #3 and #5 blades. The finish is two coats of spray Shellac. Comments welcome. Phantom Scroller, MTCowpoke22, New Guy and 5 others 8 Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted August 1, 2017 Report Posted August 1, 2017 Very nicely done Denny. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote
Denny Knappen Posted August 1, 2017 Author Report Posted August 1, 2017 Thanks Iggy and DW. I was hopping the Poplar would turn out more green. Quote

Denny Knappen Posted August 2, 2017 Author Report Posted August 2, 2017 Thanks everyone. I really don't like mini clocks, but the 2 3/4" clock looks great on this project. Quote
bobscroll Posted August 2, 2017 Report Posted August 2, 2017 I thought you were on about a nice cup of teeeeeeeee...Denny , You did a lovely job there Denny, Thanks for posting, Bob Quote
edward Posted August 2, 2017 Report Posted August 2, 2017 You did a great job on the mini clock, I personally like doing them but I like the smaller inserts better, as the larger ones are too expensive for me. edward Quote

The replacement cost as much as the clock. Quote
meflick Posted August 2, 2017 Report Posted August 2, 2017 Very nice job Denny and I agree, looks great with that larger clock. I am sure it will be a hit with the hospital charity tournament for sure. I remember seeing that when Steve posted it and thought my golfing brother in law would like it. Will have to keep it in mind for his birthday or Christmas perhaps. Always love to see something cut to see it "live". Thanks for sharing. Quote
Denny Knappen Posted August 3, 2017 Author Report Posted August 3, 2017 Thanks Melanie and Dave Quote
Jim McDonald Posted August 3, 2017 Report Posted August 3, 2017 I have that pattern to cut for a charity outing here I'm involved with, but it is not until next June--so I have time. Thanks for showing what it looks like done. Hope I do it justice. Quote
edward Posted August 3, 2017 Report Posted August 3, 2017 For replacement batteries for smaller clocks, I buy mine at the dollar stores comes in packages in different sizes for $100. An can be used for watches also, and Harbor Freight also has them. edward Quote
