spirithorse Posted August 21, 2017 Report Posted August 21, 2017 (edited) Can anyone help me identify this WW2 Army Ribbon, please? He served in the Europe Africa Middle East Theater, the Asia Pacific Theater, and the China-India-Burma Theater. For some reason, even though the file is only 20kb in .gif format, it will not up-load but, I'll send the scanned image to anyone that may be able to identify it for me who will send me their e-mail address. Thanks and God Bless! Spirithorse spirithorse55 at hotmail dot com Edited August 21, 2017 by spirithorse Quote
JOE_M Posted August 21, 2017 Report Posted August 21, 2017 The problem might be with the .gif format. Can you open it in whatever image software you use, and then save or export it as a .jpg? Quote
spirithorse Posted August 21, 2017 Author Report Posted August 21, 2017 Thanks, Joe, Wayne from this forum made the same suggestion so, I'll try to re-post. God Bless! Spirithorse Quote
jollyred Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 If you don't get the image loaded, try the Wikipedia article "Awards and decorations of the United States Armed Forces". The have an extensive list of the ribbons and awards, including photos. Tom Wilson Quote
spirithorse Posted August 22, 2017 Author Report Posted August 22, 2017 Thanks, Tom I didn't have any luck finding the ribbon there either. God Bless! Spirithorse Quote

jblock9907 Posted August 22, 2017 Report Posted August 22, 2017 The bottom one is a WWII Victory Medal. T one you are looking for is not a military issue but an unofficial VFW medal Quote
spirithorse Posted August 22, 2017 Author Report Posted August 22, 2017 (edited) Thank, jblock, I have never heard of unofficial VFW medals (or ribbons). I found a photo on a site called vfwstore.org thanks to your info about unofficial ribbons or medals. The uniform, medals, ribbons, etc are going to be displayed in a museum and we want as much verified information as possible. Thanks!
