Iguanadon Posted September 2, 2017 Report Posted September 2, 2017 I take orders for custom names in animals at events and I have a form that I have the customer fill out with all of their contact info, the animal, the name, etc, etc. I generally try to take a snapshot of it with my phone "just in case"... well, apparently at Lazy Daze I failed to do that and now I can't find the order form. Harvey sent me the pattern and I received it today. I generally will call and leave him a voicemail as soon as I receive an order so that I don't forget to do it... and it appears that's what I did and then misplaced the order form without taking a picture... now I'll have a custom animal but have no idea where to ship it. Hopefully the customer contacts me since they already paid for it. Wow, I feel horrible... I'm a stickler for details and being on top of stuff and I really blew it this time. Lesson learned, snap a picture as soon as they fill it out. I even suggest they do the same thing as sort of a "receipt" showing payment has been made. lawson56, jollyred, OCtoolguy and 1 other 1 3 Quote
heppnerguy Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 I would bet that the customer will get a hold of you, unless he lost your card, as he or she would not have paid you for a piece, unless they really were looking forward to receiving it. If it were I that made this error, I would include a free piece as a 'forgive me' jester. Dick heppnerguy OCtoolguy 1 Quote
WayneMahler Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 Iggy I have done the same thing. Handle it differently and only realized after all the work was done. Details ... Details.. and oh crap :( OCtoolguy 1 Quote
JOE_M Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 I'm guessing you've already gone through all those boxes of puzzles, looked in the rolled up awning, checked under all the seats in the car, looked in that book you were reading last etc... OCtoolguy 1 Quote

zimmerstutzen Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 That really is a travesty. You don't need a customer bad mouthing you because he paid and did not get his goods. Hopefully the slip turns up. A friend set up at craft shows long ago and when she took special orders had a special bright orange paper for the order forms and she kept carbon under the forms to make duplicate copies. She was panicking about a lost order form, which is the reason why the bright paper, less chance to mislay the slip. Her hubby resurrected the order information from the piece of carbon paper. Heck I have not seen carbon paper in decades but I use that bright colored paper trick for certain receipts. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Iguanadon Posted September 4, 2017 Author Report Posted September 4, 2017 SAVED!!!! By who else, but Harvey Byler himself! I left him a voicemail last night asking him if he kept track of when I called in custom orders. Hoping that he maybe kept a log or record and could tell me what day I placed the order for the mysterious Iguana named Buddy. Well, today he called me and left me a voicemail as I didn't hear my phone ring while out on the beach and he told me he didn't know the exact date but that I had mentioned in my message to him that I was at a friends house... and DING DING DING I remembered... the friends I was staying with during my big event in Cary... it was her! She asked for it and that's why I didn't have an order sheet. I had simply called Harvey as soon as she asked for it and then over the course of the 2 day mega event and then my business trip, I completely forgot about it. Good ol' Harvey... saved me! Too funny. jbrowning, OCtoolguy, JOE_M and 2 others 4 1 Quote

meflick Posted September 5, 2017 Report Posted September 5, 2017 Great to hear that you figured it out with Harvey's help. Good thing too because your friend would probably never had mentioned it since you were probably doing as a gift - thus no order form. She will be happy to get it no doubt. Quote
