Local news is saying ALOT of rain & wind here and possible tornadoes, Following updates in the mornings & evenings. First part of next week is looking like a good time to "work" from home. I like working from home because all I do there is answer emails & talk on the phone while I play in the shop. How can I get a job like yours? Marg Marge there's no water in any stores as of today.I helped unload a truck at my friends store with 100 cases of 24 bottles of h2o that came down from Orlando ordered yesterday. It got here early afternoon..He sold 25 in a couple of hours. He'll try again tomorrow. There's absolutely no wind at all for days here, the tempest, the calm before the storm.I'll be in a tall warehouse and kind of blocked from straight on winds.I think i need to park my car so it's hidden from east winds and then in the eye change it so its hidden from west winds.I've 15 gallons of water and a tank of gas i can use for the 1000 watt generator if need be.I like my cold water. And i can scroll too if i want.I like having the smallest generator as it's quieter and uses much less gas.hopefully the warehouse doors hold up and the windows survive on the car outside.God willing! Travis
Be safe everyone. Please heed any evacuation orders. Irma looks angry and not in a forgiving mood.

zimmerstutzen
Oh my, how can I live in a deep freeze three months per year? No palmetto bugs. No little lizards crawling across the floor. Humidity is not so bad that the dry wall molds if the air conditioning fails. I lived in Miami for three years. Missed the change of seasons so badly. The smell of dry leaves, crisp apples. Strolling down town looking at the Christmas Displays, greeting neighbors doing the same while sipping mulled cider, The Warmth and joy of a gentle Christmas Eve snow fall. Jumping in the river for Charity on New Years Day. Padding through the snow with my flintlock hunting deer in January. Groundhogs Day. Skating on a farm pond with a bonfire on shore to roast hot dogs and warm up some hot cocoa. Going for a walk through a winter wood at midnight during a full moon. I could never give these things up. The only way to be cold is to be so inactive you may as well be dead. As my grandmother always said, You can always put more clothes on, there is only so much you can decently take off. kmmcrafts and GrampaJim
Scrappile
I say heed the evacuation notices, because not doing so not only puts you in danger but also the ones that have rescue you.
JimErn
As well as Irma, Jose is a danger too. It seems to be tracking slightly to the east of Irma's track, but as I remember Irma was originally on that same east side track earlier and has shifted more to the west. Even if Jose tracks east of the coast line, the winds, rain, and storm surge a couple of days after Irma is going to be a real mess. Good luck to all, my prayers are with y'all
