Popular Post Denny Knappen Posted September 12, 2017 Popular Post Report Share Posted September 12, 2017 Thanks to bobscroll for this wonderful pattern I found this pattern in the pattern library. I reduced the pattern to fit an 8" square piece of 1/2" Butternut. It is approximately 7 1/2" in diameter. The blades were FD UR #1 and #5. The finish is one coat of sanding sealer, sanded, and two coats of spray polyurethane. I am a little worried about the extent of the open grain - worried about drop-outs breaking off. Did you experience any problems? That is a beautiful piece. Butternut is very soft, but easy to work. Yes, the grain is open, but using the sanding sealer and sanding with a mac mop solved the grain issue. No problem with the cutting and fall outs.
