It's advertised near me for $180 and the pics of it look like it's in very good condition. Is it worth that much? Should I jump on it? I have been going to buy a shop vac and had planned on spending in the neighborhood of $100 but they are all so noisy I have held off. Not sure what your numbers mean, but maybe their website has info. Fein has been around for a long time, and all the ones I have seen have had the power tool trigger your speak of. Mine comes on about three second after I start the tool and runs for 15 seconds after I shut it off. I would think if the one you are looking is in good shape, it would be worth the money. I wish I had bought one years ago. The only better vac I know of is the Festool. Well from the price and their reputation, I think it must be better, but I have never actually seen one. The numbers that I quoted are the model number. I looked it up and it seems that it was made about 8 years ago and was rated as one of the best. This one from the pictures appears to be in new condition. The seller came back with a counter offer and I took it. I'll be picking it up on Sunday. Thanks for your help. tonylumps Posted September 20, 2017 Report Share Posted September 20, 2017 You stole that vac I have the same one.The new ones are not made in Germany anymore,But the Quality is still there .I have had mine for about 9 years now and not a problem The one i have has variable speed and i use about the middle setting for the Scroll saw witch makes it really quiet.When I am using the lathe I use full power and it is still half the noise level one my shopvac It looks like yours has VS.But I could not tell by the picture.I use both the bags and the filter along with the cyclone and it has been working pretty good OCtoolguy 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've never had a VS vac and have managed so far. I'm going to have to build some sort of a cyclone for it now. Maybe a Dust Deputy is in order. You can adjust the amount of vacuum by turning the ring, it opens a slot (hole). Not as high tech but it is there. I have never used it. Just out of curiosity, how do you have yours hooked up? Have you posted a picture of your setup? I 've seen a few but don't recall whose or what thread or ????? How often do you have to service your Fein? Do you have any type of separator in line? I'm worried about having to buy filters or bags. What say you? Fact I haven't even looked a the bag, because I think it would take a long time to fill with just scroll saw dust. I do not have an in line separator. I may put in something like Rolf did (he posted here somewhere). It was to collect cutoff or break offs so he could retrieve a piece if he had to... I don't make those kinds of mistakes.... When I first started I rubber banded a piece of nylon sock on the nozzle to catch things other than saw dust, but it plugged up to fast. I have a Dust Deputy I bought a few years ago for my shop vac. To mount it with my shop vac and be able to move it around with it took up too much room and was cumbersome so I haven't used it. Might be worth it on this setup because I won't be moving it around. Still I like Rolf's solution better. It would be easier to retrieve a piece in his little catcher than in a 5 gallon bucket. Rolf's thread: The only problem with this set up, is it is a little flimsier than I would like. I am trying to think of ways to stiffen it up. But all in all it is 100% better than anything I have before. Well worth doing. I think your vac comes with a cloth washable bag from want I read on the internet. But I know you can buy paper or cloth bags for it. No worries, Your are going to love that Fein! Gonzo Posted September 21, 2017 Report Share Posted September 21, 2017 I agree with Tonylumps, you got one heck of a deal. Congrats. Rumor has it the older style is a much better unit. I have had my Turbo 1 for almost a year. Every so often, I empty the filter bag, and blow it off with air hose. Good as new. Keep an eye on it though, because you'll be amazed at how quickly the bag fills. I use my vacuum mainly on my Scrollsaw and bandsaw . My hook up is very simple. I took a card board tube and strapped it underneath where the original dust port was (I have an EX21). I just shove the hose into the tube and away I go. You will really like your new machine. The cross sectional are of the two 3/4" pipes is larger than the area of the opening on the vac hose. Also, the Festool and Fein type vacuums are designed to run continuously.
