Doug
Purchased a piece of Cocobolo recently. Which is now in three pieces with one of them pictured. Looks like a landscape picture of the Sandhills in western Nebraska. Every time I went to use it for a project I just could not cut into it so have decided it makes good wall art just as it is. I have included a comparison of woods so you can see its hardness and that at 12% moisture content it will not float. It is a heavy piece of wood but thought the picture worth sharing. JOE_M
I've got a nice cocobolo board sitting on my shelf too, but it is much darker than that. That's a great find, it does look like a landscape scene as is.
Scrappile
Some time ago I purchased two boxes of Cocobolo shorts. Still have a bunch of it. I am currently making a Hamsa box out of it. I use a lot of in on the street organ I build, the crank, the rewind wheels and faced the outside pipes with it. It is workable, but yes hard. It also really bothers me when working with it. I get all plugged up in the nose, eyes burn and water.. I do like the smell though. Mine is also very dark, which I think is the heart wood. That is a beautiful board, you have. Edited October 6, 2017 by Scrappile

Rockytime
Beautiful piece of wood. I have driven through western Nebraska many times and it is great likeness of the sand hills. I think I would frame the piece of wood with a small brass plaque with a description of it's meaning. SCROLLSAW703
JTTHECLOCKMAN
You really do not want to see my lumber racks Exotics can be some of natures best. They usually are heavy and oily and a challenge to cut but I like to use them for accent pieces or bottoms for my clocks. Put a finish on that piece and it will jump out even more so. lawson56
Beautiful piece of wood. The scene reminds me of Monument Valley out west.
