fredfret
I use one when cutting 3d projects from dense wood or woods that burn real easy like cherry. Not sure it does much. Table saw blade it seamed to help a little. Fred fret Wichita ks lawson56
kywoodmaster
I ordered one in 2001. I still have 99.99% of it somewhere. blights69, lawson56 and Iguanadon 1
orangeman
Seems like I used some lubricant years ago. Didn't notice any difference. But I always use packing tape (Duck 260 is my favorite) for lubricant!!!!!! It really makes a difference. Without it I always burn cherry when cutting. bb SCROLLSAW703, Roberta Moreton and lawson56 1 1
SCROLLSAW703
never used it, never needed it. If you're that concerned about blade lube, paraffin wax works as good as anything. Rockytime
I use bees wax when cutting brass with a fret saw. lawson56
Lucky2
Lawson, I've never used one on scroll saw blades, but I've used them on bandsaw blades. They do a descent job as long as you use them often enough, but on scroll work I'd be afraid of them staining the wood. They may not, but I do mostly fretwork and wouldn't chance it. The one I have is kind of purple in color in the tube, but when applied it seems to be clear. Len lawson56

rdv464
Mike can't remember his last name that use to sell the Flying Dutchman blades, told me one time never to use any thing like that!! Mike was pretty sharp on blades and how to use them. rdv464 lawson56
JimErn
Back in the day, Dad would drag the threads of a wood screw over a bar of soap. That still works today by the way, but I also do that with saw blades (all types), seems to help. lawson56
stoney
I tried one they do the job but have to be applied very often. I went back to packing tape. lawson56
Silver Sliver
Mike Moorlach registered and sold the "Flying Dutchman" blades that he bought from Niqua in Germany. He had a good friend that worked for 3M (world wide manufacturer of all kinds of tape including Scotch Tape). He was told by this friend that the glue in painters tape provided the lubricant for saw blades. I would rather doubt that there is enough to lubricate a table saw blade, but I can see where there would be enough for a scroll saw blade. Nuff said on my part. lawson56
ike
I have been cutting for over 30 years and never used anything on my blades and they useally last 30 min. or so. Tried packing tape but couldn't see much difference in the blade cutting. But I don't cut at top speed very often I useally yuse speed #5 on my DW 788. scrollerpete
Never used it but I always taped my projects with the packing tape, I rank test with cherry wood - brand new blade no tape = burn marks with tape no burned marks at all. lawson56

I did a test like this with the blue painters tape and had the same results. Made me sort of a believer in the tape acting somewhat as a lubricant. MTCowpoke22
I bought one 10 or so years ago. Like everyone else, I have most of it left, and I don't know if it does any good or not. I don't every remember to use it, and it seems like the blade wears out at about the same rate anyways. I will say that I never had any issue with it staining the wood. So it's got that going for it.
