Who can tell me anything about this brand?

I'm on eBay right now and I came across a scroll saw that I'm not familiar with. It looks very much like a Hegner bot in design and color and the tag on it says it's from Shawnee, Ks. I have never heard of this one. Anybody?

Yes that is now PS Woods design. I have one, its bottom feed, belt driven 5 or 6 speeds. I paid $150 for mine that was in near new condition. That one is well over priced.

Ray, I don't know anything about these saws, other than that they've been around for years.

That's weird. I was at a carving/scroll saw show over the weekend and someone was talking about that brand. I guess they make blades too.,

Yeah LOL, I'd be pretty skeptical about the blade making.. unless that is.. if you'er talking bandsaw blades.. because that's where I get mine.. believe they do make those...well.. weld them together.. they are timberwolf brand blades but I think they probably get them in bulk coil and just make the size you need. Anyway back on topic.. there are a few companies that sell their own scroll saw blades.. but all that I have seen so far are no more than just Olsen blades with whoevers brand name on them..

As for the PS Wood machines scroll saw... I've read many topics on these over the years and everyone that knows anything about them had talked like they are really good saws.. I do not know anything other than what I've read.. They do look like a beefy saw.. they have a video on the site demonstrating the saw.. They have a different looking set up for that lower blade clamp and not so sure I would like that bigger hole in the table top to run the clamp down through.. certainly unique.. might actually be very nice set up once one got used to it..

They have been around a while and so have I.  I just always think if they are good, why are they not more popular.  And I am one that has purchased to off-brand equipment, like my "Steel City" table saw.  Been and is a good saw, but what happens if I need some major parts for it some day, they are out of business.

Thanks folks. I'm not in the market but I was curious about the saw. It looked so much like a Hegner that I thought maybe it was a knock-off but since it's made in the U.S. I figured that was not the case. Anyway, nuff said.

The owner of PS Wood came and spoke at one of our scrollsaw club meetings several years ago.  Nice folks and they are local to us here in Western PA.  As I recall, the saws are pretty beefy, but perhaps not as refined as some other saws.  I think they are belt driven.  Their blades are decent, but far more expensive than other blades.  I bought a couple dozen, just to try them out and they cut straight and stay sharp, but they didn't offer a reverse tooth blade.  That, and the cost make them impractical for me.  I actually feel kinda bad, because I would really like to support a local business.

I think PS Woods saw is not real popular because a lack of advertising. DeWalt, Excaliber, Hawk, Heagner are advertised a lot. They are discusse a lot here. Therefore they are more familiar. I have only seen the PS woods on the internet.It appeared to be a very sturdy machine and I thought the belt drive foolproof. But it is rarely seen on this site.

IIRC, the owner told us that they used to demonstrate at all the woodworking shows and scrollsaw gatherings.  I don't think they show at as many these days, but then again, there aren't as many of those kinds of events anymore.  Occasionally I see one of their adds in a magazine.  Advertising costs a lot of $$ and they are a pretty small company.

I think you are very correct about the advertising.. I also think they are a well built saw.. I think DeWalt got so popular because it was sold in big box stores.. plus DeWalt built a name and reputation years ago.. so people see a deWalt tool and automatically think quality tool.. however I've bought some off brand made in china tools that had help up better than some of my DeWalt stuff..LOL.. I think Dewalt is now made in china too maybe? 

I don't see a lot of post over the years about Hegners or Hawks.. dominantly DeWalt, Ex's and then the low end stuff.. so..
