Rob Posted October 24, 2017 Report Posted October 24, 2017 So far, all of my craft fairs have been indoors but they only run a few times a year so I decided to invest in a pop-up gazebo and a couple of tables. On Monday, I did my first outdoor event at a local park that was running a flower festival. There was a good turnout but it was hard to get people to part with their cash. I made about $200 which was a little less than I hoped for but not too bad. Special thanks go to Iggy for generously sharing his experience and display stand design. Lucky2 Posted October 24, 2017 Report Posted October 24, 2017 Rob, I wouldn't scoff at $200.00, that's a pretty good haul for your first outdoor sale. Len Rob 1 Quote
Iguanadon Posted October 24, 2017 Report Posted October 24, 2017 Well done Rob. I'm finding that certain "festivals" do better than others... Keep track of each event, try them once or twice and then determine if each event is worth your time. I've scratched through several this year. Rob 1 Quote
ed martin Posted October 25, 2017 Report Posted October 25, 2017 I think you did great for your first time. Rob 1 Quote

wombatie Posted October 25, 2017 Report Posted October 25, 2017 We all have great expectations when we do these fairs, shows, markets, events. Maybe we should aim a little lower. Great effort, great display and great weather by the looks of it. Fabulous bench too. Marg Lucky2 and Rob 1 1 Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted October 25, 2017 Report Posted October 25, 2017 Very nicely set up Rob. $200 is not a bad turnout for a first time out of the gate outdoor show. If you were to do the same show next year and repeat this a few times folks would be following your work and be more likely to purchase items. Glad you had a good time. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Rob 1 Quote

merlin Posted October 25, 2017 Report Posted October 25, 2017 Nice setup Rob and a nice amount of dollars as well when I first started a number of years ago $200 was a dream, but our area people are not that well off and is very hard for them to part with there money................ Rob 1 Quote

Thanks for sharing this with us. DW You did well for the first outdoor event. He gave excellent comments. My first(only) outdoor event was a total wash-- I ave had not very good luck with fairs and shows; do better on yard sales (when some are in the neighborhood)and just the free advertising. I tried EBay once and never again. Rob 1 Quote
Dave Monk Posted October 25, 2017 Report Posted October 25, 2017 Not too bad at all. I alway give out a lot of cards. One Saturday at the Farmers Market this past summer I went home pretty bummed. Got an e-mail the following Monday with a $500 order. Rob 1 Quote
edward Posted October 25, 2017 Report Posted October 25, 2017 Nice display, and $200 isn't bad either, my last show I did $190, pays for supplies. edward Rob 1 Quote
dgman Posted October 26, 2017 Report Posted October 26, 2017 Nice looking display Rob! Keeping track of what sells will help you decide what kind of items to make for the next time. Also keep track of customer request. Rob 1 Quote

newfie Posted October 27, 2017 Report Posted October 27, 2017 $200 That's not bad at all well to me anyway. I went to one craft sale here. Went from noon to 6p.m. Made $20 and the table costed me $10 so I Made $10 for the day but that's the way it goes I guess. Your setup looks great by the way thanks for sharing. Rob 1 Quote
