Iguanadon Posted October 27, 2017 Report Posted October 27, 2017 I recently placed some items in a gift shop in the city of Wilmington nearby. The owner said that anything that says North Carolina or Wilmington does well, so I showed the state of NC that I do and I had Harvey do a custom version of the swimming mermaid for me. I cut 6 of them today and I'll deliver them to the shop Tuesday. Lucky2, lawson56, wombatie and 4 others 7 Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted October 27, 2017 Report Posted October 27, 2017 Nicely done. Thanks for sharing them. Bet they sell well. DW Quote

LOL Fortunately it's very flexible... and I actually have a new business I'm trying to kickstart. Meeting with an accountant/small business mentor to bounce it off of tomorrow. I don't need financial backing or anything, just guidance on how to get setup properly. So far, the handful of friends and potential clients I've run it by have given it the thumbs-up. I keep trying to find someone to tell me why it won't work, but so far it looks pretty solid. I'll share details later. Too soon right now. Edited October 28, 2017 by Iguanadon Dave Monk 1 Quote

orangeman Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 Great job Scott! If you'd like to share I'd be interested in the terms you have with the gift shop. I have a dynamite NC Wildlife puzzle that I sell for $48. I can't come down too much on it and shops would have to mark it up too much where it wouldn't sell. Going from the craft shop to retail seldom works out because retail want to mark things up 100+%. bb Quote
edward Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 Very nicely done, like it a lot. edward Quote

The shops I've dealt with ask me what I want to price the items at. Sometimes you raise your price a little to help offset some of that. Edited October 28, 2017 by Iguanadon orangeman 1 Quote
Rockytime Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 Good luck with the new business. I remember starting my business in 1971. I used to worry day by day. Then week by week, then month by month until I realized that was not going to help me. I just worked hard every day and the business became successful. Ran it for 30 years until selling it in 2001. Don't let naysayers hinder you. Quote
Iguanadon Posted October 29, 2017 Author Report Posted October 29, 2017 Thanks Les, it's very exciting right now as I pursue this. I come up with 100 ideas a month and never follow through on 99 1/2 of them. The puzzles endeavor just kind of appeared and next thing I know I have more than a hobby. This latest idea I've come up with may allow me to give up the day job in a year. It's a lofty goal, but I'm enjoying the ride. This idea is only 2 weeks old and yet I've already established my LLC as of today. LOL Quote
rdatelle Posted October 29, 2017 Report Posted October 29, 2017 Great as usual Iggy. Should be a good seller. Quote
