Jim Finn Posted November 13, 2017 Author Report Posted November 13, 2017 Double Bevel inlay (or marquetry) is simply cutting the lettering, or the image, on two different colored woods that are stacked so you cut them both at the same time. Having the scroll saw table slightly tipped so one side is lower than the other cuts the wood on an angle so that one piece fits tightly to the cut out on the other. I find it quite easy to do. This is the very first inlay I did. I sold it! One best be proficient in using a scroll saw first. Sam777, Phantom Scroller, don watson and 1 other 4 Quote
scrollerpete Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 You are a master of the inlay art, very nice and your choice of wood is always the best Jim Finn 1 Quote
Denny Knappen Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 Said before and I will say it again, Jim you are the master of inlay. All of your work is awesome. Jim Finn 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 So, both pieces of wood are 1/2" and stacked, you are cutting that detailed of a silhouette in 1" of woods, at an angle, with a very small blade? Yep, a person must be proficient with a scroll saw. And I can not find an entry hole..... Jim Finn 1 Quote
meflick Posted November 13, 2017 Report Posted November 13, 2017 Always love seeing your inlay work. I'm like Paul - wish you I lived closer to you or Dave to "see" how you do it it. Stunning inlay work you both do. Thanks for sharing. Jim Finn 1 Quote

oldhudson Posted November 14, 2017 Report Posted November 14, 2017 Your work is always excellent. Someday I'm going to try an inlay with a scroll saw. I've done them a couple times with a router but, of course, it's not the same. Jim Finn 1 Quote

Thank you for sharing Sam I resaw all my wood to 3/8". I drill the 1/16" entry holes at a 6.5 degree angle. The scroll saw is set to a 2 degree off of 90 degree cut. don watson and Sam777 1 1 Quote
