nrscroller
Hi I am looking for a fine pen or marker than won't bleed on baltic birch ply to mark my ornaments when I give them to people. My duaghter has a nice american crafts precision pen but I have no where to buy them where I live. Suggesions for a type at Walmart, we have one here. Thanks Bill
Phantom Scroller
Try the new Papermate inkjoy gel 0.7 pen doesn't smudge.
Jim McDonald
I always spray a couple of coats of lacquer on the piece to seal the wood and sign with a fine Sharpie®. Then a quick overcoat and I'm ready to go. wombatie and tomsteve
redwine
I agree with Jim, spray a coat of lacquer than use a fine point pen than seal it with another coat or 2 and your finished! Erv
WayneMahler
I do what Jim does. I seal mine then sign them. Lightly sand them with 220 sign then apply a final top coat.

NC Scroller
India Ink pens like this: https://www.amazon.com/Pitt-Artist-Pen-Black-Fine/dp/B00OQFR0OE/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1512089398&sr=8-12&keywords=india+ink+pens Lucky2
kmmcrafts
I use a Sharpie as well.. that said.. I've used a few different types of fine point Sharpie's and this is my favorite one.. The others I used would bleed out into the wood.. I think due to the fact that they put the ink on too heavy.. These in the link are the best I've found so far.. https://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Fine-Point-Black-1742661/dp/B001CS1QC0/ref=sr_1_4?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1512090964&sr=1-4&keywords=sharpie+fine+point Lucky2

orangeman
Pigma Micron pens will do the job. WalMArt has them on their website - don't know about the stores. Michael's, Hobby Lobby, and JoAnn's should have. Bought mine at Michael's. https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=black+micron+pen&tag=googhydr-20&index=aps&hvadid=174263046953&hvpos=1t1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15514013717601503630&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010843&hvtargid=kwd-3771046245&ref=pd_sl_9fl5paz7lq_b bb Lucky2

CharleyL
Coat your project with a clear finish first. Then, after the finish is fully dry, your markers will not bleed when applied. I use clear spray lacquer on my reindeer before applying the eyes and red nose with Sanford Sharpie marking pens. I don't sign the reindeer or my 3D ornaments because I haven't been able to do it successfully without it detracting from the appearance.
