IKE Hey Ike. If you are using a finish that is thinned or cleaned up by mineral spirits ( like poly, tung oil, danish oil........) you can finish immediately. No need to let it dry. I do a lot of smaller pieces for ornaments, I just turn the shelf paper over, lay my wood on it and cut around the wood with an exacto and then peel off and stick on wood.
