Auction Piece

In September I was the feature artist of the month at a local cafe that is run by Gay/lesbian folk and the place is very popular.

They are having an auction of donated art work to sponsor an lgbtq family that is coming to Canada.

Here is what I am made them for the auction, it's a bunch of lgbtq symbols and I splatter painted the backboard and frame with the colors of the LGBTQ flag. Will drop it off Saturday morning

You really did a great job on that picture.  Interesting question about the price.  Might pay to discuss it with someone experienced with this type of auction and see what normally happens.  What I am trying to get at is I have been asked to donate a piece for a fundraiser auction.  The people I have talked to me say they feel it could bring as high as $500 , even up to $800, because people go crazy at the type of (especially, if the liquor is flowing).  I sell the item for $125.

  • 1 month later...

So this piece had a starting bid of $80 and the winning bid was $165 which is awesome! Of all the pieces in the auction it was the highest percentage above the opening bid. This piece is bound for Boston Mass.

The auction was a great success, they also had a raffle and they raised a total of 3000$ or so.

I am back as the feature artist once again in Sept 2018
