WayneG
In September I was the feature artist of the month at a local cafe that is run by Gay/lesbian folk and the place is very popular. They are having an auction of donated art work to sponsor an lgbtq family that is coming to Canada. Here is what I am made them for the auction, it's a bunch of lgbtq symbols and I splatter painted the backboard and frame with the colors of the LGBTQ flag. Will drop it off Saturday morning Edited December 8, 2017 by WayneG meflick, frankorona, bobscroll and 5 others
Lucky2
Wayne, with it being so colorful, it's bound to be a hit, it should draw a large bid from the bidders. Len Edited December 8, 2017 by Lucky2

WayneG
thanks folks, I need to provide a suggested starting bid for the piece and wondered what you all thought? my hope is that it brings in somewhere between 140-160$ so I was thinking a starting bid of $80 thoughts? Scrappile
You really did a great job on that picture. Interesting question about the price. Might pay to discuss it with someone experienced with this type of auction and see what normally happens. What I am trying to get at is I have been asked to donate a piece for a fundraiser auction. The people I have talked to me say they feel it could bring as high as $500 , even up to $800, because people go crazy at the type of (especially, if the liquor is flowing). I sell the item for $125. meflick
Very nice work. I have no idea about starting bids - I agree with Paul, I would talk to them and see what they think and see what kind of bids they typically get for similar stuff in years past. dgman
It looks great Wayne ! I suppose the question is what would you like to sell it for if you were selling it. That's what the starting bid should be. If that is $80, then that's what the starting bid should.
WayneG
Ya I mean $80.00 would be the price I would put on it, the owner of the café thought 90$. In any case he loved it,I hope it brings in close to 200.00$ I also let him name the piece Thanks, will post how much it makes at auction

WayneG
So this piece had a starting bid of $80 and the winning bid was $165 which is awesome! Of all the pieces in the auction it was the highest percentage above the opening bid. This piece is bound for Boston Mass. The auction was a great success, they also had a raffle and they raised a total of 3000$ or so. I am back as the feature artist once again in Sept 2018 meflick and bobscroll
