For the birdhouses I used the pattern of the 3D cutting and layed it on the lathe to look at as a reference. It actually was another starry night I cut for a friend, when the big piece slipped as I was cutting around the little houses. And I could see in slow motion how my finger was cut. I have that Gingerbread man on my list to try to cut. Like you, I saw doing it in a dark wood or with a dark stain. Thanks for showing yours.
