Delta P-20 on eBay

Seems to me when I first started scrolling the hype Delta saw was the P-20.. with all the comments about the P-20 back in the day I always thought they was maybe the top of the line Delta saw..

Anyway, this seems like a good deal.. I don't know much about these so maybe not that great of deal.. I have read that a lot of parts are obsolete for these.. but they sure seem like a tank.. maybe better as a boat anchor? I remember looking at the closeout display model at my local woodcraft type store years ago thinking about how I'd like to have it.. no money and even if so.. it'd take an army of people to move the thing, LOL

Oh how I remember those days also. The big thing was the blade clamps and Deltas corner of the market on them. They were built like a tank but required changing of belts for speed change and keeping oiled. Looking at that photo, that was not even the early ones that they had. But the memories and war of words of who had the best saw. Now there are so many more saws on the market and many are just clones with different paint colors. There use to be a couple that scrolled with a hand fret saw and the work they use to produce was amazing and you could not tell the difference. Brings back memories.

I have and use the P-20 every day. With the wear shown it's a great deal. I believe the saw weighs in at 125 lbs. If I lived closer I'd pick it up as a second saw. I've had mine for about 10 years with almost no issues. You just have to put some Loctite on a few nuts and keep it oiled. You can top or bottom feed the blade. The quick clamps are great.

Wow! I see it's in Milwaukee. I'm surprised it's not a rust bucket.

I wish I was closer to Milwaukee, that would be in the shop in a minute! I currently own one that I purchased in 2005 and I cannot tell you how many hours it has on it and it is still going strong! True there are a lot of parts that are no longer available, one that comes  to mind are the complete blade clamps. The "handle" to open and close the clamp is no longer made but the pads and spring are still available. There are a lot of parts that would not normally be needed during the life time and some of the parts can be made by a good machinist. This saw pictured has had very little use and has many years of good service ahead of it!

If that is a recent picture that P20 looks like brand new.   I had a Delta P20 and used it for about 7 years.   For those that have never seen one they had some great features.   The large cast iron teardrop table, the awesome blade clamp design which allowed for top or bottom feeding.  Had Delta decided to make it variable speed drive the saw would have been hard to beat.

The fact that Delta decided to quit supporting the P20 is the reason I no longer own one.   I gave mine to my grandson to see if he would like scrolling.   It was still in good working order.

If I lived closer to Milwaukee I would also be interested.

I always wanted one of these.there was one in the thrift store a black from me but i could see right off my dw788's are Superior to this machine so i passed it up.
