GPscroller Posted December 25, 2017 Report Posted December 25, 2017 Saw Ron Johnson's cutting of this when we met in Prince Albert last year and showed the wife on his site. She wanted it and Ron helped me source the pattern. Told Jan I would cut it this year when on holidays and it is done. Had to dig out the dreaded spirals to finish it and once I found some that worked, it didn't go to badly. Not sure what colour to put behind it, black is nice but also tried forest green and it was quite stunning. Thanks again Ron. Jeff New Guy, frankorona, Scrolling Steve and 4 others 7 Quote

Sorry not a great pic, but I think it shows the effect. Took around 40 hours, not the longest I have done, but not the quickest lol. Jeff Quote

Jeff Expand Yes I like the green and only because there is enough wide open or larger spaces to actually see that it is green, if there were not those spaces you may as well doit black as the green would not show through where there is so much detail.... 40 hours hey...that is just a wonderful piece of art. I would mount it on the green and they see what may look good as a frame.... Is that 1/2 inch thick? What species? Edited December 25, 2017 by WayneG GPscroller 1 Quote
penquin Posted December 25, 2017 Report Posted December 25, 2017 That looks great, 40 hours is a lot of time but you can see the detail in the work. Well done and Congrads. on getting it finished. jim penquin GPscroller 1 Quote

Expand I stack cut three, two 1/8 BB ply and one 1/4 BB ply. Had some minor tear outs on the 1/8, one of which is noticeable but none on the 1/4. Will be cutting repair pieces for the 1/8 tear outs today. Will get larger green backer at Micheal's tomorrow and look for a frame that suits it, may have to get this professionally done Jeff Edited December 25, 2017 by GPscroller Quote
