Another Hegner Question

Has anyone ever replaced their hose for the sawdust blower/sucker? If so what did you use? Mine is the old clear plastic tube that won't stay positioned where I put it. It has a mind of it's own. :)

Oh and my quick clamp came in today and man that is so nice.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

Jim

Mine came with the "Loc-line" attached as you see.  It works fine.  It was mounted on the other side of the upper arm but I move it to the side it is now on.

Not sure where you get the little brass fitting to insert into the hose and screw the Loc-line to.  Should not be hard to find though.  Maybe from Loc-line, maybe Home Depot, maybe auto parts store.

Hi Jim

I have not had that problem with my Hegner, but I am concerned I will not be able to resolve it.  I don't have much support for Hegners in South Africa. I was considering I may have to look at piping used on fish tanks should I require any replacements or home fixes.

All the best

All that tube is for a vac system. Trying to catch dust with that small  tube is a not worth the effort in my opinion. To me a vac on a scrollsaw is a waste of time and effort. I would get the articulating hose and just blow the dust away from you. When done scrolling for the day take the vac and clean up each day. saves wear and tear on a shop vac and the dust is not that much. Yes wear a dust mask but that is all I have been doing for over 30 years. Listening to a shop vac all the time is nerve racking to me. This is just my opinion. Good luck.

The Sawdust Management System should come in to me next Tuesday. I am hoping this will work, due to my asthma I don't really care for blowing sawdust all over the place and yes I wear a respirator when I'm using the scroll saw.

I put together a vacuum system for my Dewalt and I will do the same for the Hegner. It works so well with the Dewalt, I can't believe folks don't do it for their saws. Even if they have to put their shop vac outdoors to stifle the noise, it is worth it. And incorporating either a remote on/off switch or buying a plug-in that triggers the vac when sawing, it will make your life much better and ease your breathing problems.

Hi Ray, when you get yours set up. Would you mind sharing with me. My shop vac sets right in between my Hegner and my Dewalt and I use it anytime my scroll saw is running.

Did you see the pics of my system on my Dewalt? I have a Fein in one corner of my shop and the long hose from it goes all the way over to my saw in the other corner. I set it up so I could use the vac as my regular shop vac too. I had to make some attachments for it because it came with nothing. A heat gun and a couple of regular attachments did the trick. Let me know if you can't find those pics. It's really pretty easy to make. I didn't glue any of the connections so that I could change it around if needed.
