Sanding Mop Questions

Sanding mops are often recommended as a finishing tool for scroll work. I wondered if those of you who use them regularly would recommend:

a brand; size; and supplier

Are you chucking them in a drill or drill press or something else?

I have been using the Mac Mop a lot lately.I started using it mounted to my drill press.But the sight angle just did not do it for me .So now i use my lathe with the Mop I have more control of the speed and angle.I would not try to use a hand drill at all.

I have the sanding mop and the Mac Mop from Klingspor .  The sand mops are best for curves and such and are stiffer than the mac mops.  I use the Mac Mops, mounted in my lathe and sand flat stock with them.  I have the 4" sanding mops and the 7" Mac Mops.  I use the Mac Mops the most, because I mostly do fret work.

T also have the Mac Mop from Klingspor.  I use it on my drill press.

I have the 4" mop, and use it on a used washing machine motor with a drill chuck mounted on it.  It is attached to a board and clamped to the worktable for use.  I also use a dust collector about 6" from the mop to collect the sanding dust, and a respirator.

I use the Mac mop and 6" mop on my variable speed drill press.  Changing the speed changes how aggressive they sand.

Like Denny and Paul I use the Mac Mop from Klingspor that I have mounted on an old mini lathe.  While I use it for many projects I like it best for "softening" the edges on puzzle pieces.

the small dremel ones i have i use in my battery drill,the bigger ones i make up to 4" i still use in my  battery drill.
