bobdigi Posted January 29, 2018 Report Posted January 29, 2018 Hello everyone. Anyone have any tips or suggestions about making a name sign with a lowercase i using script font? I have thought maybe overlapping the dot so it is narrowly connected but wasn't sure if anyone had experience or any tips. Thanks. Lucky2 1 Quote
meflick Posted January 29, 2018 Report Posted January 29, 2018 (edited) Yes, usually you are going to have to "connect" the dot - either to a letter next to it or off a little to the side on the i itself. That would be why many people only do things in all Caps. Avoids those dots on i and j and the lower "extension" of letters like j, g, p, q, etc. (This is assuming that you are cutting the letters entirely out like in a name plaque rather then in a Fretwork style.) bobdigi Posted January 29, 2018 Author Report Posted January 29, 2018 Thank you for the reply. I think your idea is great and i will give it a try. I typically use a script type font that's lowercase. Just had my first request for a name with an i. Here is the font that i have been using. Lucky2 1 Quote
Dan Posted January 29, 2018 Report Posted January 29, 2018 I have just moved the dot to slightly overlap the i. Quote
Lucky2 Posted January 29, 2018 Report Posted January 29, 2018 Hello Bob, welcome to the Village, yes lowering the dot over the I so that it barely overlaps the top of the letter will work fine. Len Quote

tomsteve Posted January 30, 2018 Report Posted January 30, 2018 something you can do if the situation arises is take a look at some scroll saw word art and see what looks pleasing. its helped me adjust some patterns now and then. Quote
