Brianr24
Hey guys I use “ contact “ brand shelf liner and it works great. Don’t heat it to get it off. Not that it’s a huge problem but it will leave glue residual behind if you use heat gun to get it off. It is a little harder to pull off without heat especially if it’s delicate work. I know it comes off good without heat but I heated it cuz I was pulling It from figured veneer and if not very careful it’s easy to pull out wood fibers “tear out “. Heating it caused more of a headache leaving glue behind that I now had to carefully clean. I know a lot of you use shelf liner so Maybe this will save someone else the headache in case they get the bright idea to heat it. new2woodwrk
Thanks for the heads up @Brianr24 I use this remover for glue as well as Goof Off (my fav) and Goo Gone Goof off is not supposed to stain anything - it doesn't stain carpet, I know that from first hand usage. Not sure what the others would do to wood since I've not used them on wood yet, only metal Edited February 3, 2018 by new2woodwrk OCtoolguy
kmmcrafts
I've used con-tact brand as well as the duck brand.. both very similar as far as how easy /hard it comes off. I've really never knew I was using a different brand until one day I opened my storage cabinet and seen the brand name on the last batch of rolls.. I used both the 18" wide and the 12" wide.. I prefer the 12" for most my projects.. however I do use the 18" for large portrait work that is larger than the 12" wide.. The 12" wide is easier to work with. especially in Iggy's case where he buys the 12" wide lumber. and rolls it out the whole length of the lumber... saves a lot of time not cutting and piecing several smaller sections when production cutting.. This is why he specifically looks for his 12" wide rolls new2woodwrk and OCtoolguy
Dan
Like Kevin I found both brands work the same. If all that's available is 18" you can easily cut it while it's rolled up to whatever width you need. I've used it for flat cutting and compound cutting. Be careful what you use it on. Once it's in the wood, you'll never get it out. Might even be tough to paint over.
