stoney
Just wondering if anyone knows where you can buy just the rotating tip set screw used in scroll saw blade clamps? I have a Hegner quick clamp that the tip of the set screw is missing on and would like to just replace the set screw if one is available. I have a Hegner but I don't know what it is you are referring to. Is it the same as the rotating tip on the DeWalt? R
Rob
Hi Al, I also have a Hegner which is only three years old but the quick clamp does not have a rotating tip on the set screw. I don't think it is meant to have one. I agree it would be nice if it did. Would be cool if you could find a suitable replacement. Keep me posted. kmmcrafts
Might be the same size as the DeWalt.. I've used the DeWalt set screws in other saws that didn't have the rotating part.. If it's the same as the DeWalt / Excalibur.. then Seyco is where I get mine.. They sell just the tips.. DeWalt you have to buy the whole screw.. Also note.. if you do order from Seyco.. a set is for both upper and lower arms.. somehow when I order the last time.. I ordered double the amount I needed OCtoolguy and stoney 1

OCtoolguy
Ok, here is what I just found out. I have the Quick clamp on my Hegner so I was able to cross check the two screws from the Dewalt. The threads are the same which would allow for someone to put the Dewalt clamp screw into the Hegner instead of the Quick clamp. The tips appear to be the same but I'm not sure they would interchange. The Dewalt uses a rubber o-ring as the holding device to keep the tip in. The Quick clamp uses a plastic sleeve. I tried to put the Dewalt tip into the Quick clamp and it fits but when you try to push the o-ring into the hole, it binds. It could probably be forced but I didn't want to do that. So, I hope this is understandable. If anybody has questions, just ask me. R WayneMahler and stoney
tonylumps
If the tip has a hole on the end .Then you need one Seyco sells them.I drilled one out ,but don’t remember witch clamp it was. OCtoolguy
stoney
Ray the rotating tip prevents the end of the blade from being bent to resemble a hockey stick. OCtoolguy

Thanks Al. Did you see my post above? The two screws are interchangeable. I don't know how they compare price wise but if the Dewalt is cheaper, I'd buy a one of them and use the Dewalt tips. I honestly didn't try putting the Quick clamp tip into the Dewalt screw but that might work too. Lot's of ways to go here. I was at their site but missed the listing. They sure have a lot of parts without a picture. I like pictures. Rockytime
I have never heard of a set screw with a rotating tip. But there are lots of things I have never heard of. Are you saying it has a ball that rotates on the end like a small steel ball? I could use that type of thing. Not for a scroll saw but for many other uses. I sure would like a source. Rob
Oops, I take it all back. I just checked and my quick clamp and it does indeed have a rotating tip. The lower blade clamp does not but the blade is not clamped by the screw in the bottom clamp anyway. Sorry for my mistake. But anyway the thumb screws have a small hole in the end.. then there are little pins ( rollers)fit inside the hole that alows the tip of the thumb screw to spin.. Click the link below for the picture of the small pin ( roller ) http://seyco.com/quick-clamp-renewal-kit/ Edit to add: These don't fit the Hawk clamps.. Hawk is american threads.. these are metric... not sure of anything like this with american threads.. tgiro
On my EX-21, the set screw doesn't have a rotating tip - the thumbscrew does. The set, that Seyco sells, has a set screw and a rotating tip for the thumb screw. Don't know if these would fit a Hegner or not. tonylumps
Your right. Not for the set screw.Just the thumb screw. OCtoolguy

R I haven't bought any in years since I ordered too many when I did order.. but at that time Seyco was much cheaper.. and yeah.. I bought them for my DeWalt.. That said if I remember correctly.. at that time you couldn't buy just the tips from DeWalt.. which is why I bought them for the EX OCtoolguy
