new2woodwrk
Says he wants 350 for the saw and 90 for the sander - saw doesn't look worth 350 to me. https://okaloosa.craigslist.org/tls/d/scroll-saw-dewalt-and-spindle/6528180299.html Thoughts? Not to mention 400 for both or 440 individually LOL OCtoolguy
dgman
The saw may be worth about $250. The table looks a little rusty. I don't know anything about the spindle sander. OCtoolguy and new2woodwrk

WayneMahler
Can only state whats been stated. Someone is looking for in-experienced and a thick wallet. Makes me wonder what the bearings are like. Just my thoughts. new2woodwrk, OCtoolguy and tomsteve
OCtoolguy
I might offer him $50 for the spindle sander. They come in handy. But the saw, I'd wait for a better one. Ray new2woodwrk and tomsteve
MrsN
The spindle sander looks like a Performax that I bought new from the store for about $90. I see that it is listed at $130 on the website. https://www.menards.com/main/tools-hardware/power-tools-accessories/sanders/performax-reg-3-5-amp-corded-oscillating-spindle-sander/90225/p-1444431613968.htm tomsteve, OCtoolguy and new2woodwrk
justdraftn
Sander could also be a PowerTec. Good sander. New on Amazon $110.00. new2woodwrk and OCtoolguy
tomsteve
the table being that rusty makes me wonder what any electrical connections and the inside of the motor look like. duct tape around the top by the tension lever isnt a valued option on that saw either. ike
I would not pat $250 for a used Saw no matter what brand it is.especially if it had rust. for any used saw $100 is enough.. $250 for a Deallt is 1/2 retail. If any thing goes rong with it and you can't fix it it will cost you $80 to $250 to have it done. Make him an offer of $100 for the saw and $50 for the sander if he says no pull the offer of the Saw off. see what hapens. new2woodwrk
I'm passing on this saw - still holding out But, see what I mean about CL in my area? All priced as if their items were new - it's insane! OCtoolguy

Just about the time you give up, one will come along. It's too bad that you are where you are because they show up here all the time. And in good shape for a fair price. Have you checked on eBay? I see a lot of stuff there from your area. If it's within driving distance, you may get lucky. Ray new2woodwrk

Ray I check daily the following sites for "Scroll Saw" CPOoutlet Craigslist.org Ebay Letgo and periodically FB Marketplace Often, I'll see both a jig saw and a band saw advertised as a scroll saw - the one that always cracks me up is "Radio" Saw (Radial saw) as a table saw. I'll add any other suggested sites as well Edited March 14, 2018 by new2woodwrk OCtoolguy

Not that I need another saw but if I see a deal I post it here for anybody who might be close enough to take advantage. That Hawk last week was a great deal and it didn't last long. hotshot
I would add that craigslist works on the haggle system. Would you buy a rusty dw788 for $100, $80. You can always wait a bit (so that the seller knows he is not going to sell it at that price), then make an offer. He says no, then you are no worse off. When you see a shiny table on Craigslist, you don't know that the seller didn't clean it up immediately before listing it. It is easy enough to test the machine out to see if it runs good, and if it is shallow surface rust, 10 minutes with a sander would have it shiny and new looking again. Not that the Rust wouldn't concern me, but at a certain price point, if it runs good, I can live with that risk. Mine had some minor surface rust too but it ran fine and it was a type one so I went for it. I did offer less than he was asking though and got it for $50 less. Same thing happened with my Hegner. But, at the same time, don't go so low as to piss off the seller. I have been on the other end of that and just told the buyer to go pound sand. There is some degree of finesse in "bartering". Ray I think you always risk offending someone. The key here is, if that saw if only worth $100 to you because of risk and condition, there is no way to get to 100 if you bid on a price that may not be considered a lowball. Anyone can take offense, but other than a little cussing, you don't risk a lot by bidding what you believe something is worth to you, regardless of the possible perception of the seller. If you hang out a little in a Pawnshop, those guys give prices that are "worth it to them", and they do offend, but the seller can always walk. In this case, I might make a lowball offer for the two tools and if they say no, leave you name and number and tell them to contact you when and if they decide to take your offer. But, I would definitely check it out and see what the condition of the saw is other than the rust/corrosion. If it's not a piece of crap, make an offer.
