I  Googled this

how do i open pdf on my computer

Anything there you can use?  I took an Inkscape pattern and "Saved As - PDF" but it does not show up on the desktop.  If I save as "PNG", it puts an icon on the desktop that you can Copy & Paste to this site.

Thanks Jer but that's not my problem. I have plans for a saw stand that are in .pdf format. About 7 pages. I wanted to post the .pdf here or the .doc file after conversion. But, so far I haven't figured out how. I hate to post 7 pages of pics.

In the post you need to click on choose files at the bottom. Select the file from your computer and it will upload to your post. I think this is what your asking to do. I upload a file Blank.Pdf and had no trouble. No need to download this file as it just says blank pdf inside  :):):)

Also make sure the file is not copyrighted in any way please.

I tried that and it did put a link to the .pdf file but the file is one my computer and that's where it goes. I want to actually upload the file to SSV.

You need to upload the file not a link. If you use the link button on top it will give it an address to access it. Choosing the "Drag files here to attach, or choose files " at the bottom will upload the file. Hope this makes sense to you.

I'll give that a try.  Thanks Wayne.

Hey Ray, not really sure what trouble you're having, but by simply clicking the paperclip below where you're typing your comment you can choose any file/document to attach to comments here in SSV...  Just as you do with an email.  If what I'm saying is confusing you, you may want to get one of your grandkids to help you.  ;-)

Attaching PDF here as an example.

Ray, hopefully you can figure it out from the guys post above, but if not, one of us could help you out and posts for you.  You would just need to send it to one of us to add.  If you need further help and would like me to do that, let me know. Happy to help.

Here are couple of pics to show what they guys are talking about above:

When you click on choose files and find the file you want to upload, the site will take a little bit to save the file. If you submit before the file is uploaded it won't attach. If your file is big or your internet slow it could take a bit for the file to upload.

Thanks to all. I think what is wrong is when I do exactly as you all have suggested, I see the file on my screen. I hit the save button and then I try to access the file that I have just uploaded and it takes me right to my desktop screen where I have the file. It then gives me a "save" option. I have already saved it a couple of times so that is not working. I'm going to try it one more time and see if you folks can access it. Maybe I can't access a file on my computer that I upload. Anyway, here it is again. Let me know if you can access it.

I guess I just didn't understand that I can't click on my own link and have it take me to the subject material. It kept taking me to my own desktop. Strange. Anyway, I wasted a ton of time to find this out. Oh well.....................
