good evening ssv!  hope all is well! i have to say today has been one of the more emotional days i've had in some time. i had a check up with my cardiologist today, & frustration has built since the last check up. after a verbal altercation with him, & explaining to him he twisted the wrong bulls' tail, i wasn't there to sit. i wanted answers. he told me he weren't goin' to be treated like that, & i said good! me either! start actin' like a sawbones. he come around & we finally got some of the answers we been after for sometime!

he released me to go back to the shop!:):) he did tell us some information about the medications i'm takin'. answered several other questions. even told me i could drive.;)

then i get on here, & my likes say i won two trophies! one for lending a hand, & the other for an ice breaker! what do those mean? not to sound dumb, just would like to know what i did to "win" trophies? it made things a little better to end the day.:)

Thanks for the information!  I saw yesterday that I had two trophies!  Didn’t know what it was about but is a nice thing Travis is doing.   As a side bar this site has sure taken off as much as the other one has went downhill.  They show 39,000 members but only 133 active.  I feel we need both to promote the scroll saw hobby. Thanks Travis for all the work you put into this site!

Glad to hear that you and the Cardiologist came around and worked it out together and you got some positive information and good news.  Nothing going to make you feel better then getting into your shop and being allowed to drive.  Glad the trophies just added icing to your cake for the day.  Now, looking forward to seeing what you do in your shop.

One thing I have learned, if you are having problems with your doctor, it time to move on.  I have replaced more than one that was not listening or had their own agenda.  We are paying WAY to much for that nonsense.  If possible, find the top guy in your area.  For example, my cardiologist is also the professor at the medical college in this part of the state.

Funny story (now, not then) my wife was having problems with her breathing, not related to her asthma.  Her GP looked at her and said her problem was she had wax in her ears!  Next day she went to her asthma specialist, and he informed her she had pneumonia.  Time to fire the GP and get a new one.

Two things:
1. Congrats on being able to drive.  Gotta be a great felling.  My wife said I have never been able to drive!  :D
2. Got my "Awards" yesterday.  Just assumed that an award & $2 will get you a cup of coffee.  Seriously, the more postings by others has to be a good thing.

I went through the same thing many years ago. Was told I had a bad cold. Three days later I was having sever problems breathing, got rushed and admitted to the hospital for pneumonia and asked why I didn't seek treatment before. Wife explained I seen a Dr 3 days prior and was told a bad cold.  I had a 10 day stay to get better. Needless to say never seen him again. Praying your Mrs. recovers quickly and fully.

Me too John T. I wondered the same. But, it did make me feel special for a bit.

I posted a couple of questions on the other site a couple of weeks ago. I still haven't gotten an answer. Too bad. It needs some moderation and I know Steve Good is way too busy to do it all. It could be just as good as SSV but not without some help.

Hmmm - Ray, what site did you post some questions at?  I believe trackman is referencing the site affiliated with SSWC magazine, scrollsawer.com (the numbers match up regarding members and active.)  Is that the one?  I ask because I have been on both sites since I found them almost two years ago.  This one by far gets more "action" every day but usually, on that one, if someone asks a question - someone will answer it fairly quickly there too.  Some of the members like me and several others (won't name names because I would hate to miss someone ;)) are on both sites.  I check both sites daily and I don't recall seeing you post on that site but perhaps I missed it.  I do know that that site sometimes seems to have some "glitches" from time to time that I have encountered but I am confident that normally someone would reply if the post is seen.  So, if its that site - can you show me where your questions are so  I can figure out why I and others might have missed them?

It was on the Scrollsaw Workshop Forum that Steve Good puts up. It just needs some oversight and maybe a few bells and whistles to be competitive. I like having more than one place to go seek information. The one you mentioned is still viable.

Ok - glad it was different.  I was just worried that you had posted over there and it was missed somehow.  The search feature over there never seems to work well - at least for me.  I did finally manage to search for your user name (I assumed like me and many, you would be using the same one) and found some really old posts from several years ago and that was it.  I did check out Steve Good's forum once but didn't find much activity there and decided I had plenty taking up too much of my time so I haven't been there in a long time.  Steve did note just recently on his blog that he can't keep up with the emails so not to feel bad if you never heard back from him so I am sure he is seldom if ever over on that forum.

He has always managed to answer my emails. And in what I would call a timely manner. He is a great representative of our hobby. Many thanks and "cudos" go out to Steve.

I started out years ago on the SSWC board.. never did really love the site but for a long while that was the only one I found and knew .. I'm there under a different name but I don't think I've posted on there in several years.. and rarely even look..

Also on Steve Goods forum... but again.. don't check in much.. and last time I tried I couldn't get logged on for some reason. and still can't get on it.

The Facebook groups are fairly active.. but I don't partake in them very much..

I have been following a few on Facebook too. I do like the SSV on FB.

Ray

I didn't know SSV was on FB.  That is what I scroll through as I have breakfast.  Post pictures there cause it is easier!  Usually come here for answers because there is so much wisdom here!  When I logged in today to see if there were answers to my "unglue" post, I also noticed the trophies - Thanks to whoever gave them to me.  As someone mentioned above - I am not sure I deserve the lend a hand one.  Others certainly have more experience than I do.

I couldn't agree more Ray, Steve Good and his blog and free patterns does so much for the scroll saw hobby.  I have only had occasion to email him a time or two.  The one that "mattered" to me was for a pattern he had shown on his blog in a photo, but not shared the actual pattern (the volleyball trophy).  He promptly replied and generously provided me the pattern when I emailed and asked if it was available.  I just wish we had waited a few days to put my Seyco saw together until AFTER he had done his and put his video out on it, would have saved my hubby some tense moments and choice words. ;)  I don't know where I would have been in this hobby with out the Village, Steve's blog and patterns, and SSWC magazine and their forum. :smitten:
