Blade Holders

I use the 5 1/2 tall pill bottles that I can get free from my drug store just for the asking. Each will hold about 4 gross of blades and still allow a finger to reach in and slide a single blade up the inside and out. I have one bottle for each blade size and source. I use round labels on the caps so I can pick the right bottle quickly, but cut the label that comes on the blade package out and insert it into the bottle so I can order the exact same blade when I need more. It also helps geth the right cap back on the bottle if you should accidentally get them separated.

I bought mine from Amazon. They came as 60 tubes/with stoppers and a plastic rack that was folded flat. It works but puts the tubes too close together for my liking. I'm almost thinking of downsizing some sort of rack and making 3 of them to keep the 3 major blade brands separated. For us newbies, since it's all still a mystery, it might be easier that way.

I have to side with Rolf on this one.  You do most anything to the baby soda bottle and your blades are pristine.  They are a bit pricey, but there is no way for the lid to pop off and they are impervious to moisture.

I have to chuckle at the baby soda bottles.  They are actually called preforms and are what eventually become the plastic drink bottles you see in the grocery store.  The company I work for builds inspection equipment for the glass & plastic container industry, so I'm familiar with their original purpose.  We used to get 100's of them to use for testing and development of our equipment.  I never thought to scavenge some of them to use for blade holders.  Most of our equipment development now focuses on the full size bottles, after blow molding, but we may still have some laying around the plant somewhere.  I'll have to see if I can find some.  I'll probably have to supply my own caps though.

I started out with the thin wall plastic tubes, they all cracked over time. So bought these from Spangler science  a few years ago. Pricey? $11 for fifteen is only .73 cents ea.

More pricey than the free pill bottles mentioned above.

For my money, they are a great investment that will most likely outlast me.
