Rockytime
This may not make much sense but I much prefer working from a chair rather than a stool. Today my friend added a gate to my dust collector. He offered to take the legs off my Hawk and make a custom stand fir the Hawk that would allow me to use a chair. I know Bushton sells a leg set to allow sitting but it looks awkward and not really attractive to me. Someone posted a picture of a three legged custom stand but do not recall who that was. It looked perfect. So I'm wondering if anyone has done that to a Hawk. I'd save the legs in case I or my estate sold the saw. Just thinkin' ahead. SCROLLSAW703
I have seen that too, Rocky, & I agree, they aren't to attractive. I sit in a barber chair when I'm at the saw. I called Hawk & talked to Nicole, asked her if she could email me the plans for the legs they use for a wheel chair set up. She did, & it's a perty entailed set up. I haven't done it to my 26 yet. I get along ok with it as it is, but eventually, as crippled up as I'm gettin', I'm goin' to have to break down & do it. My issue with the 3 leg set up is stability. I want my saw solid on the floor, & know it's goin' to stay put. I have installed casters on my 26 so I can move it easier, by myself. Without them, my bride had to help me move it. I've got it sittin' on a harbor freight pad that you would put on the floor, in front of your bench. Reason being is my shop floor is wood, & with the casters, I was gettin' some vibration. So, I put that pressure pad under it, & no more vibration, & it sits solid on the floor.

If so, I took these plans and reversed them so the single leg is in the front and I can straddle it. Ray kennethstand.pdf

Brad, I built the one that I just posted the plans for. It is very heavy, very solid and I put carpet feet under the 3 legs. No vibration at all. I love it and I'm thinking very much about building the same thing for my Heg. Ray SCROLLSAW703
SCROLLSAW703
If it works for ya, Mr. Ray, that's the most important part.;) I'm just not to crazy about changin' the design of original equipment. If I bought one without the legs under it, Creativity is unlimited. And I have to take vibration into account on all my saws bcause of the wood floor in my shop. Even with my planer I get vibration off the floor, & it's on it's own stand. OCtoolguy

Anyway, the stand that cam with my saw was a true piece of crap. The saw shook like a dog doing you know what with peach seeds. So, I built this stand. I still had some vibration with it even after going through the saw and tightening it all up and greasing with synthetic grease. Someone on here suggested putting carpet under the feet. I did so and that solved the problem. I can do the nickel trick at most speeds now. I never run mine at full speed. I'm sort of a middle speed guy. My saw sings like a baby.
