rjweb
Good evening, has anyone that signs your work tried using a custom rubber stamp, I am trying to find out if that would work and if the signed stamp would hold up, thx, RJ
JTTHECLOCKMAN
I do not use a rubber stamp. I have shown what I use a few times here before. It is a wood signature branding iron I had custom made. You can get them many places these days. I use it on most of my projects that it will fit on. kmmcrafts
I started off signing with a wood burning tool to write my name.. then of coarse I'm always in a hurry so I started using a fine point Sharpe pen before I apply any finish. I think it looks much better. Then most recently I found you can order custom return address stickers.. I made it up somewhat like my business card and place it on the bottom of my clocks.. then finish over them... That said.. I still like the Sharpe better.. I do use the stickers for certain things yet but for the most part.. I went back to the Sharpe... Mostly because I like to finish my work with beeswax and mineral oil.. The stickers don't like sticking to that.. and I haven't found a spray clear that I like on clocks yet.. I've done Danish oil, 50/50 BLO and Mineral spirits etc etc.. and then top coat.. don't like the look.. If the look was awesome I could deal with the extra time it takes for drying and the strong smells to go away.. But the look is certainly not worth the wait times for me.. Like I said.. I'm always in a hurry,
rdatelle
I got a plug in iron from Rockler. They have a few different designs.

jerry1939
Because of Religious reasons (I'm a devote cheapskate) I print mine with MS Word. Take a paper hole punch and snip a quarter circle off of each corner. Trowel wood glue on the back. jerry Scroll Sign with border.doc Dave Monk
Dave Monk
I print oval labels and stick on the back. I like the branding iron look but I don't think it would show up very good on my projects because I use a lot of paint. Clayton717
I buy address labels from Vista print, that look like my business cards and stick them on the back. If I don't use that I have a friend laser engrave wood "coins" for me that say Handcrafted by and my name around the edge and my initials in the center. bandaideman
use a rubber stamp of a hand saw that has hand crafted by over the top and then sign the blade with name. Have seen by art years later and the stamp is still there and readable.
WayneMahler
I sign mine with a permanent marker then apply finish over it. I like to think it makes it unique and authentic
RangerJay
I have used a fairly basic branding iron that is heated by a torch for close to 20 years - still going strong - but if the piece is too small for the branding iron then I just initial it with a Sharpie - am thinking of getting a smaller, electric, custom branding iron with just my initials.
