GrampaJim Posted April 22, 2018 Report Posted April 22, 2018 Somebody built a Hawk knock-off? Looks like a single speed and only 14" so I would certainly pass on it. OCtoolguy and SCROLLSAW703 1 1 Quote
Rockytime Posted April 22, 2018 Report Posted April 22, 2018 It looks very much like the 14" Hawk I had. A few differences. Mine had the cam lock instead of the knob. Te serial number was 314. It had no motor as it was built to be used with a Shopsmith. I motored it with two double sheaves making it two speed. I've since given it to a friend. SCROLLSAW703 and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote

It has two i.d. labels on it. One says Ohio and the other Burbank, Ca. It appears to be a very old Hawk that might have been repainted. I bought a Hawk 26" in 1985 at a Denver Woodworking show and it was very similar in appearance. It was two speed, belt change. Who knows what this one has been through. I wonder if it's been repainted. Ray Quote

I know I've seen a dark blue re-brand Hawk before.. Wish i could remember what the brand was.. may have been the same company.. but anyway.. pretty sure there are a few Hawks out there with different colors and name plates.. I had no idea they ever did that. Ray Quote
SCROLLSAW703 Posted April 23, 2018 Report Posted April 23, 2018 they may have, kevin, before nylus & his bunch took over RBI. To my knowledge, they don't now. It'd be interestin', for history notes, if they did make them for other outfits & when. The serial number tags is what's got me. OCtoolguy and kmmcrafts 2 Quote
scratcho Posted April 23, 2018 Report Posted April 23, 2018 I bought a 20 inch model scrollmaster as a back up saw a few years ago. If you look closely at the tag it says Made in Taiwan. It appears that they had no blower system as mine came with a aquarium pump. Drawbacks are all tensioning is done by knob in the back, tooled blade change, and single speed. Parts look like they will exchange with a single speed Hawk, but I never tried. I paid $60 for mine in like new condition. kmmcrafts and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
loftyhermes Posted April 23, 2018 Report Posted April 23, 2018 I believe that Record Power here in the UK used to sell rebadged Hawks when they first ventured into the scrollsaw market. SCROLLSAW703, OCtoolguy and kmmcrafts 3 Quote
