Popular Post woodduck
This is my first go at inlay work but I have a long way to go to match Dave .I quite enjoyed doing this one. The inlay pattern came from Steve Good & the fretwork pattern on the underside of the lid is one of Sue Mey's. The main part of the box is silky oak & the lighter coloured strip is pine Scrolling Steve, new2woodwrk, Lucky2 and 12 others 13

Silky oak is an Australian Hardwood & is of the Grevillea Family (Grevillea Robusta). I managed to get an old fireplace mantle piece & when I stripped the paint away this is what I found,a very pretty looking timber

heppnerguy
Not only is this a well done inlay box made in a true craftsmanship way, but the scroll work on the inside is very innovative and adds so much to the box. A really great idea. I love the creativity of some people.. something I do not have, myself. It is people like you that help to raise the level of my work with your ideas.
