Rockytime
On another post the Windows 10 Snipping tool was mentioned. I have it so what is it good for and how does one use it?
new2woodwrk
You can use it to take screen shots, highlight and email parts of a website etc. Some find it of use, I do not since there is a "Print Screen" key on the keyboard. Basically you can do the same thing with Print Screen key and MS paint - works fine for me
Rockytime
So how is it used? I'm not exactly computer literate.
OCtoolguy
Rocky, it's used for capturing a picture or a screen shot. I found one that's even better and easier to use. Check out "Jing". It is an easy install and it lives at the top of my screen whenever the computer is on. All I have to do is hover over it and it gives me a little menu that you click on. Then you have two yellow lines that you put where ever you want a corner to be and drag it to the opposite corner and release it. The it asks you if you want to capture what's in that area. Click on capture, then it asks you if you want to save it. You click on the save icon and it will give it a name (usually the date) and you tell it where to save it to. I usually save everything to my desktop so I can find it again. Really a slick little program. The snip tool works the save but I like this one better. Rockytime
Thanks Ray. I see I can make a little red square and capture stuff with it. I'll have to play with it. OCtoolguy and SCROLLSAW703 1

Phantom Scroller
I use it all the time to screen capture sections of pictures to make a pattern and cut it. Save it to your desktop to find it. It's a very useful tool. I dragged it to my task bar at the bottom of the screen so it's always there, saves looking for it. heppnerguy
I use the snipping tool often. all you do is click on it. then sometimes you need to click on 'new' and then you place your cursor on one of the outside corners of what you wish to capture and after you have exactly encompassed what you wish to save you click 'save as' and it goes to your photos, unless you tell it save it somewhere else. Nothing difficult to it Dick heppnerguy OCtoolguy
Rockytime
I downloaded "Jing" which is similar. A recommendation from Ray. Works really well and just sits at the topof my screen.

Nothing difficult to it Dick heppnerguy Dick I agree. But, I find that the Jing tool works faster and easier. It loads at startup and is always lurking there in the back ground. It lives up along the top row of tabs and also is available no matter what other program I might be using. Because it's already loaded into memory, it doesn't take any time to work like the Snipit tool does. R SCROLLSAW703

Then I switched over to Win 10 and it wasn't there. So, I went out and found it and added it to my computer. But somewhere along the line, I was told about Jing. I was curious so I went out and got it too. It is a free tool so I figured what could it possibly cost me but my time. After using it and finding out how user friendly it is, well, now that's all I use. Give it a try. You'll like it. I promise.
